Re: Another Huge Loss to me

Sorry to hear. I lost my pops in my early 30's. It is a very great thing you were able to share time together through out your years. Be well and cherish memories!

Re: Replacing grease wide 5 front drums

You could always bottle it and sell it on ebay as vintage.

Re: 6 volt, positive ground boost help?

If your battery is discharging and you need a "boost" something is wrong with the charging system or the battery.

If you want a coil 6v "boost" on startup.

Re: What kind of jack do you carry

Tighten as best you can. then go back and tighten again. I'm not sure people ever torqued wheels before in the actual world. If it won't budge, carry a hammer or a mallet to knock the bar.

Re: Voltage to points

makes sense a yellow top would work on a 12volt system with just a ceramic 6v resistor. As they kept the points and dizzies 6v on early yblocks and used a yellowtop coil.

Re: It RUNS ....and then it DIES....

I'd agree on looking at the condenser or coil as a warm/hot issue. Those cheep dial pressure gauges are pointless. I'd ditch it. Replace it with a fuel pressure gauge maybe. Or test the pressure.

Re: 38/39 pickup seat dimensions

well... what do you need? A seat? I guess I could take mine out and measure it. I believe a lot of guys use a 80s-90s caravan rear bench seat as a basic seat.

Re: question and maybe a picture

I believe you need truck 8ba water pumps with the straight ear mounts....if a 8ba motor. Cool car. if it's a french engine, wouldn't it make it basically a 59a motor?

Re: OT - Winter Coming - "Skeeching"

Here in the tundra. We would take a feed shovel and tie the handle to a tractor. As we got older and had access to snowmobiles things got faster.

One of our neighbors had a "winter" model a that...

Re: OT - Winter Coming - "Skeeching"

Great story. We used to as kids (10) take the old steel wagon wheels and run a pipe through it. Take a 2x16 and nail them to the board (couple 2x4s so you could stear the front with your legs) and...

Re: transmission question

I run a Mitchell in my truck. No issue of course. Used the lever. It looks great on the floor. Took me a day to do it. Would consider one with my 36 coupe. Floors good now, so that might be my only...

Re: temperature readings on.....

Look at how the block water flow is designed. Pump in the front of the block. Outlet in the front of the block. So to see different temps at different points along the system is completely normal....

Re: is it ok to run diluted antifreeze?

Next time you have your heads off rod out the block with a long screw driver or a wire. Flush it. Make sure the radiator is good. People used to drive these engines across the country.

Re: is it ok to run diluted antifreeze?

Depends on were you live. If you are in Canada I'd say not. But if you live in Texas. Sure. "Anti-freeze" it's in the name.

Re: T5 guys TKX

It's not cheap. But it is an interesting transmission that spans a lot of yr uses being somewhat small. The cost of an old t5 trans is just the beginning when converting to open drive.

T5 guys TKX

So I'm not a big T5 transmission swap guy. I'm a fan of the bango as designed and a 3 sp or od, But what does this do for the guys that are looking? Not having to hunt a s10 trans down?

Re: Hole saw

Strange stuff. Soak the crap out of it. Heat the crap out of it. Repeat. Time is your friend. A wedge of brass or wood on the head to block is a decent assistant. Hopefully no one jb welded the head...
