40 Ford deluxe steering wheel

Is any company or supplier reproducing the stainless trim that goes on the 40 Ford deluxe steering wheel? I've done some searching but haven't found anything yet. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Begging to be a hot rod.

Just had to cut the firewall in the center the width of the distributor. I then made a small box and welded it back in. Looks like it was made that way if done correctly. It allows just enough room...

Re: Begging to be a hot rod.

Put a 283 in it with a T5 transmission and a Ford 9" rear and of course hydraulic brakes and drive the car like you want to drive it. I started with a stock car and this is were I ended up, just wish...

Re: When is a "Model A" no longer a "Model A"

The body is what makes it a "Model A" to me. Everything else can be changed and it's still a "Model A". If you took the body off the frame and made it a "Hay Wagon" I would say it's no longer a...

Re: T-5 5 speed trans VS Mitchell overdrive

Go with the T5, no experience with the Mitchell but the T5 shifts smooth as butter, put a V8 in front of it and a Ford 9 inch rear out back and you got a winning combo that will give no trouble and...

Re: Model A Improvements

Replaced and upgraded everything but the frame and body, those only needed some patch panels and modifications. Best improvement would be the drive train.

Re: Clearance problems on front axle.

Another vote for heat and bend the spindle arms. I did the same thing on my model A coupe with 32 spindles and a 32 to 36 axle and model a wishbone. Get it cherry red and use a big pipe wrench and...

Re: 6’2”

I'm 6"4 230lbs and have no issues in my 31 coupe. My car is a "hotrod" as some might call it. What I did was removed the package tray and used the middle seat out of a late 80's early 90's Chrysler...

Re: How To Lower The Model A The Old Fashion Way

No I'm running hydraulic brakes now. 40 Ford up front and early Ford bronco on the rear of a 9". There was no difference on stopping power before or after going with hydraulic brakes. When I ran...

Re: How do you get front wheels straight before setting Toe-In

Get a set of toe in plates and two tape measures. It will take the guess work out of it. I think I toed mine in about 3/16" of an inch.

Something like theses.

Re: What is average highway speed for the model a?

I'm running a 283 V8 in my 31 coupe with a T5 and a 3.50 ratio Ford 9" rear. At 65 mph in 5th gear I'm just touching 1,800 rpm. Needless to say it keeps up with traffic without any issues and I have...

Re: Putting a V8 in a model a

Just a note on boxing the model a frame. You really only need to box it in three places on each side. In the front where the motor mounts are, in the middle where your cross member is going to go and...

Re: Putting a V8 in a model a

Going V8 is one of the best decisions you can make on the model a. Just be aware that the V8 is just the start, there's other things that need to be changed or upgraded to. Do it right the first time...

Re: Alternate rear axle

Ford 9" rear from an early bronco 66 to 76 but you will need to go open drive and weld on your spring hangers. They're getting harder to find and expensive.

Re: T5 trans

You can do a closed drive with a T5. Check some of the threads below. A guy was using a T5 from a jeep.

Re: Why do you like your car.

Always wanted a model a coupe since I was a kid when I use to play with hot wheels cars. Later I use to read about them in hotrod and rod & custom magazine. I ended up buying one about 10 or 12 years...

Re: Millennials decided on an "A"

30-31 coupe or roadster since they have more leg room then the 28's & 29's. Convert it over to 12 volt and change the brakes to hydraulics. Change the drive train over to something modern so you have...

Re: Shocking Advice

Look for two sets of rear shocks off of an early 60's to early 80's british mgb car. They are direct bolt on to model A's. You will need to buy the shock balls and weld them to the arms, that's about...
