Yes, the damper holes are used (PASS CAR) with a puller to remove the damper. An install tool is nice to press it back on. The method(s) are shown in the SHOP MANUAL.

You say 1963. The 1963 had a BOX TOP (2DR). The 1963 1/2 had a FAST BACK (2DR).

As for jungle rot, the usual places, floor pans, rocker, lower door skin, quarters, trunk pan and lower front...

Yours is a 239 FYB, correct? The vacuum source will be manifold vacuum usually @ the same source as the wiper motor was supplied. As you mentioned, there is a tee off the wiper supply for the HEATER...

The PN for your valve is B5A 18502-A (shown below).

Anywho, clean all round the hold-down and use anti-seize on the cap screw along with the correct torque value.

You got it!

There were two heater models on this series and either are not described fully either in the WSM or MPC.

You needn't go to all of that trouble. Just the best picture you can take.

I am thinking low air flow with the pusher and AC COND mounted. It just overheats on a hard pull? How about city traffic?...
