Question Adding turbo to classic FE block

I'm interested in adding a turbo to an early Ford FE 361, '59 vintage. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for a kit. I see kits for Mustangs and more recent FE's, not so much for the older...

Re: 361 Engine Knock

So the root cause of my problem was a bad replacement fuel pump. The fuel pump arm had too much horizontal play and was banging against the timing cover. Replaced it with an electric fuel pump.

Re: 361 Engine Knock

I measured the inner width of the current cam gear at 5/8". I have one on order at 1", and it looks to have a flange on it. I'm hoping that and a new fuel pump will put her right.

Re: 361 Engine Knock

Hi and thanks for your advice and patience. The cam gear was after market but I haven't pulled it out yet. I should have it out in a day or two but I expect it does not have the spacer flange and...

Re: 361 Engine Knock

All I changed was the cam gear and the chain. I verified that the cam gear was an identical match as far as diameter and gears. I did not change the pump elliptical.

I did put a new fuel pump in...

OK, here's a third try to get the images in. Here's the fuel pump with the gash on the arm,

the timing cover with a small gash,

and the timing gear.

Re: 361 Engine Knock

I drained the oil and there's no metal. Another reason why they says it's built Ford tough :) . Next up I'll tear it down again and see what's under the timing cover, and get a spacer in there.

Re: 361 Engine Knock

Thanks, guys, I really appreciate your input. I knew I couldn't drive the car until I got that knock figured out. So let me see if I have this right. My new replacement cam gear likely did not have...

361 Engine Knock

I changed the timing chain on my '59 Edsel Ford FE 361 and now I have an engine knock. Any ideas on what this could be and how to know for sure? I read one thread where the owner said he forgot a...

Re: Edsel valve cover oil seal

Yes, timing chain. 361. I got the screw driver between the cover and the seal and worked it out.

Re: Rust on my Edsel frame rails

Very good advice, thanks. Also have to think through the weight distribution when the original is cut out.

Re: Rust on my Edsel frame rails

Everything else is in pretty good shape. So I am looking for a donor car for left and right frames: Ford, Edsel, Mercury. Probably only need about 18" of each. I am also going to need the bushings...

Re: Carb question on a 361

I identified the carb as a Motorcraft 2100d, which was stock for a 332. So I'm going to rebuild the 2100d and get it running with that. Maybe I'll tinker with a 4 bbl down the road when everything is...

Re: Carb question on a 361

I was coming to that conclusion... I don't have pics unfortunately. The car is in another location. So maybe I just rebuild this 2 bbl.
