Re: Iím rebuilding my first Flathead and I have some questions

Welcome to the Barn and good luck with your rebuild.

First thing you need to do before getting the block acid dipped & cleaned is to get that casting sand and muck out of the water jackets. The...

Re: new valve seats for a 53 EAC

Agreed.

I thought there was one or a few threads about cutting seats into a block that didn't come with them on here. I believe Ronnie Roadster, Pete, Bored & Stroked, & JWL all chimed in.

Re: '40 Ford Rear-end

I purchased the Vintage Precision puller and couldn't be happier. I know the price of the puller may seem like a lot, but doing it right and saving an axle is money well spent. Think of the hassle...

Re: Flathead Crankshaft Plugs

Type those numbers into Rock Auto. They carry a lot of Dorman products at great prices.

Re: Wheel studs

I used a hand reamer, cut slowly and checked as I went. Worked perfectly.

Very cool, Tom. Your car looks great.

Haha. Take a look at this pict of a guy with a '68 Camaro with a flathead in it.

Re: Wheel studs

OEM Ford drums have a stamped steel center that is welded to a cast iron "rim".

I agree they can get damaged, warped or cracked if not support and the removed and installation of studs is not...

Pict is found in this link.

Re: KR Wilson spring spreader continued, sort of

I'll add another suggestion to the excellent ones stated above.

I've always had luck using two blocks of wood and two large forged C clamps. This does involve dropping the spring from the...

The original poster came on here to ask for opinions on the car before buying it. All we had to go by was pictures and descriptions.

Re: Wheel studs

Somewhere I have a PDF of the Dorman catalog that lists all of the specs of their studs. It helped me find the correct stud for the job.

I think I got smart and wrote down the part number for...
