I would start with warm water and Dawn dish soap. Wash and rinse several times and then use a leather treatment like saddle soap or your preference.

With the 59ab engines, the absolute purists want the reddish bakolite versions with the Ford logo. For the goodnuf crowd, which includes me, the coils with the correct black molded oem style case...

The points and condenser from Napa have performed well for me in a newly rebuilt 59ab. Having Skip Haney rebuild my stock coil solved the issues with it. YMMV

Yup. Remove engine and trans. If the clutch plate is facing the wrong way it could cause the problem described. Checking the motor mounts and drive shaft fit would be wise.

WB42, the speaker grille is attached from the back with several mounting screws. A couple suggestions :

The plugs sorta keep the air out. The MC doesn't create much of an issue when bleeding. You are correct to move along to other tasks.
