Re: Model T speed stuff.

Thanks, but I have seen that one and from what I hear there is another that more resembles a stock head on the top and has a kind of crow foot chamber.

This head is pretty cool, for sure,...

Model T speed stuff.

I was talking with someone who mentioned a few Model T speed parts and a couple that came up were a Model T Winfield head, and a Rajo OHV head. There was also a magneto drive front cover, and some...

Re: V8- Times

I went on the cite earlier and posted in the forum.

My core shop said they will make cores as I finish things so it gets done incrementally and is proved out as it moves along.

Re: V8- Times

I did not even know this publication existed. I will see if I can get it.

Would it be a good place to advertise my block when it is ready?

Re: 8BA back under way.

Messed with the driver's side deck some, the ports and the water jacket on that side. Had one of my core shops in to go over molding and core assembly with me to make sure they approve of my process...

Re: 8BA back under way.

Thanks. I will be meeting with my core shop to go over how I want the sand to assemble and make sure they are in the loop from the start.

My foundry is capable of doing what I need them to do. ...

Re: 8BA back under way.

Yes to improvements. But some are saying (not here) that there are plenty of blocks still available and that this would be a waste of time. Apparently, some don't want, or need improved blocks.

Re: Supply chain woes

If you aren't manufacturing things, you have no idea how difficult it is to get what you need to do the job, and how unavailable qualified people are to help with the never-ending demand. People...

8BA back under way.

I finally have some time to get back on finishing the tooling design for my 8BA block. Things have been absurdly hectic the past 2 years and it looks like I may be getting a handle on it all. A...

Re: Snyder 5.5 head

These heads (stock top crow's foot) are not available yet (testing not completed) and they are a little over 7:1 compression, which I doubt will be wanted by most Model A owners. I expect a small...

Re: Snyder 5.5 head

New patterns for the top of the head would need to be made out of aluminum, again, and the bottom would also need re cut. The expense would be high, and there is nothing to be gained, in my opinion,...

Re: Snyder 5.5 head

Since the 5.5:1 pattern was not made by me, and I used its length to make the 6:1, assuming that 20,000 + sales made it safe to do so, and that Don Snyder would have to make that decision, I can...

Re: Post or not?

The first aluminum OHV approaches assembly. Rockers and push rods have already been fitted. Given that everything is proceeding as planned 5 more iron castings are set to be made, one slated to end...

Re: Post or not?

Yes there would be a weight savings. Without weighing things, and going only by sheer estimation, I would guess aluminum would save you around 75 lbs. That is a very rough and quick guess.

Re: Post or not?

OHV nearing completion. I will be making about a half dozen of these in iron next for some of the 5 main iron block customers.

Yeah, discounts for things, like package deals. Great idea!! Block package, plus cylinder head, intake, aluminum front cover, header, flywheel housing, and probably more things, all for one...

PM me and I will set you up with more (video, machining pics, etc..) than you found out in this thread. All old news, to be sure, but you apparently have not seen it.

Re: Post or not?

A block and head by themselves would be around 1/3 the weight of iron. A little comes back in aluminum as the blocks need to be sleeved with ductile sleeves. I would have to go weigh a sleeve to...

I have posted quite a bit of information since I started this a while back, messing around starting in 2012, or so, while I did my normal workload. In 2014 I had a running engine. I imagine some...

Re: Post or not?

OK, here you go. Since I only have 15-20 people after one of these iron blocks, the idea is to see what 3 main blocks will look like.

I even put a picture of one with an iron Thomas head in the...
