Re: Vendor praise[for a change]
Phil,
My experience has been the same as yours. These are two companies that are a credit to the old car hobby and should be patronized whenever possible. Kudos to both for being there for us!!!...

Re: Green Bible question
If I understand you correctly, the Green Bible is a reprint of the 49-51 Service Manual and the book you have is an illustrated parts manual.

Re: 3 spd trans
I believe that you will find the transmission mount on a 51-53 is in a slightly different position than on a 49-50. I believe that you would have to use the crossmember from the 49-50 to do this...

Re: V8 fan shroud
For the original EAB V8 question; if original appearance is important, are you aware that they made a different fan assembly for the automatic transmission cars? It looks exactly like the std trans...

Re: Newbie with a question!
Recently there was a car seller that had a 53 Ford glasstop. The ad said that it had been "converted". I would guess that there is a better chance that the 53 Merc has been converted using a...

Just a guess but how about a 68/69 Buick Riviera or Olds Tornado? It seems to me that they had something similar. . .

Chris, Looks like you had a great time and nice weather. We, the Cascade RG, will be sort of following your footsteps on June 8th. We are heading down to Joseph, OR. for the Oregon Mountain Cruise....

Re: Running straight water
I've used Red Line Water Wetter for the past 5 years and it seems to be doing a good job of preventing corrosion. I change it once a year.

Re: 1950 Ford Bus. Cpe
Sp1ke,
I concur, you have a very nice car! I believe, however, that it is a Custom DeLuxe Club Coupe. If it has a back seat, stainless around the front and back windows, and chrome "finials" at...

Re: Classic Auto Insurance
Folks,
I'm sorry if this is a little off topic but, as we are all getting older, you also might want to consider a AAA membership as part of your "insurance" package. They also provide 100 mile...

Re: Oil pressure on my 50 Ford
The 50 coupe in my picture is an original (other than wheels & tires) with 15,000 miles. It runs about 35 lbs. at speed and 15 lbs. at idle so your pressures sound good to me. I once drove a 36...

Your problem reminds me of when I lived in Massachusetts (born there). Everytime I went to the Dept of Registry it was a hassle. It seemed like they went out of their way to create a problem. I've...

Re: looking for front 1949-50 front sheet metal??
I am unaware of anyone making other than fiberglass for the 49-50. Why not contact Chris at Shoebox Ford and get a quote on a complete nose? Other than finding it locally, I would think this is the...

Re: Alignment specs.
Be advised that the 49-51 Ford used special wrenches to adjust castor and camber. There happens to be an NOS caster wrench for sale on Ebay. It is under KR Wilson the listing is for a 3089-N...

Re: Correct 1951 Ford carpet material
Ken, LB's short, cut pile, wool is correct for both the 49 & 50 Custom rear with a rubber mat in front. 49 & 50 DeLuxes were rubber mats in front and rear. The main color was Benton gray but I...

I've noticed that the last page of the 49-51 Ford Shop Manual (reprint) has a listing of the KRW tools for those cars. I'm wondering if earlier year shop manuals would have the same. I have used...

Re: Shop heat anyone have pics?
I'm using a 30,000 btu pellet stove to heat a 30 x 40 (14ft ceiling) garage in western WA. It works very well but is a little expensive; about $750 for Nov-Feb. I'm thinking of a Reznor with either...
