Re: GAV and alcohol

Thanks for the replies. Seems like it is possible to run a fairly high mix of alcohol just by adjusting the GAV.

I forgot to mention, the podcast was talking about how unsafe leaded gasoline was...

GAV and alcohol

I was listening to a non-technical podcast and they mentioned the GAV on the Model A was designed to allow the engine to run on gasoline or alcohol. The story was that alcohol was common on farms at...

Re: New Radiator, Berg vs Brassworks

I bought a Berg's for my 1930 Tudor. Last summer I took it out on a 118 degree day to see what happened. Drove in street traffic, freeway, etc. Hottest it got was 210 in stop and go traffic. I was...

Re: 3:78 vs 3:54 ring and pinion

I went from 3.78 to 3.54 and am very happy with it. The car happily cruises at 55mph on the freeway and will cruise at 45 in the city like a modern car. I'd recommend the switch to 3.54 or 3.27

I...

Thanks, it's looking like it's a '30 Tudor. That's what mine is. Looks like I need to print this picture out and hang it on my wall!

Re: A block color

If the block was soaked in a caustic hot tank, that would strip every bit of paint off of it. The hot tanks in the 50's and 60's were probably pretty amazing.

Re: MAC's Model A parts and Service - Any Good Reports?

I ordered a cam thrust plunger and spring from them for $3.75. Shipping was $18 because they put it in a 12x4x4 box. It arrived quickly and was not damaged.

Adding to your point, the awesome Bratton's reflectors are $90. That is so cheap that I can't imagine anyone could think there's a better solution. The guys at Bratton's must see posts like this and...

Re: Slightly O/T - Ford "999"

999 is sitting in the Henry Ford museum. It's right out in the open, so I took some detailed photos. I doubt they ever run it

Re: Latest word on Brassworks

A local shop should be able to recore your old radiator. It's very simple. I was going to have a local shop do mine, but they could only get a 6 fin-per-inch core. Berg's is 10 fins per inch. Quoted...
