Lazzi has a video showing how to spot weld aluminum with a regular pinch? spot welder. You sandwich the aluminum with strips of crs and pinch and pull the trigger as normal. the weld seems strong....

x2 on the 16" for '40 to '48. Prior years were wide fives. I think your right about the 15" Mercs, but if I remember right it was '48 only.

I think one part of this topic has been overlooked. I bought a '31 68c Cabriolet "body". The lower six inches is rusted away. The quarter panels are "lace" in several areas. The doors are the worst....
