Re: engine is a quandary

Howdy! Glad to hear you're getting some use out of that T9, I'm very much enjoying the lite-duty 3-speed I put in my F1. The transmission in my 31 HotRod is a BW T5 from a late 80s Chevy S-10 pickup....

Re: engine is a quandary

I've never tinkered on anything but the 8BA style flatead, I have to admit I like the look of the earlier engines distributor and upper rad hose placement. The 8BA is more more suited to the D-I-Yer

Re: engine is a quandary

I'm a do-it-yourselfer when at all possible. I pressure washed it first, I have hot water available outside which helps a lot. Then scrub brushes and detergent, blow off with compressed air and hose...

Re: engine is a quandary

It's taken a while but I finally have this C8BA back on the road. It got the old do-it-yourself rebuild. Taper was minimal so left the bore stock. I replaced all the valves, and installed Johnson...

Re: 52 8ba engine leaking coolant into oil

You might throw a torque wrench on the head bolts/nuts to to make sure they are properly tightened. Start with the simple stuff!

Re: flathead in a model a frame

I watched this video a while ago. Installing a Flathead V8 in a Model A pickup with a bolt-in kit.

Re: Brake Conundrum

I'd like to see pictures of how the combination of master cylinder, cross shaft, and pedal work together.

Re: Brake Conundrum

I suppose it matters what you want to end up with. If it's just a driver then finishing the hydraulic conversion is ok. Either can be made to function well. Any idea what the juice brakes came off of?

Re: fuel pump question

I live in an agricultural area where non-ethanol fuel is readily available, It's all I use... but it still sounds like a food idea. I think that's what killed this one.

fuel pump question

I was hoping to rebuild this fuel-pump. The valves seem to be pressed in? Is this type still rebuild-able?

Re: Seeing through the rain.

Look up Mart's garage on YouTube, he installed a different motor in his truck.

Gotta love a cool old truck. Thanks for the video, how about putting that camera in the cab and taking us for a ride!

Re: Oil level. Is your dipstick lying? Make sure you know what you've got.

Just a FYI, I filled an engine with oil today. A clean 8BA car style oilpan with the sump in the middle. Added a couple of pictures, 3 quarts, and then 4 quarts. 5 quarts (gave it time to run down...

Re: Fan Belt Tension Adjuster....

I have to agree here. As long as you have a cherry-picker style engine hoist readily available, it's very simple to roll it over to the vehicle, put a strap ( I use an old piece of ratchet-strap)...

Re: 1952 8Ba flathead wot stay running

Probably one power valve and one spark control valve in the rebuild kit, they aren't interchangeable.

Re: Oil level. Is your dipstick lying? Make sure you know what you've got.

My F1 doesn't have it's original engine, but does have the oil pan and dipstick. With four quarts of oil and a clean oil pan it puts oil level right in the middle of the full mark. Just looked in my...

Re: Dead

If you can check the battery voltage while you try to crank it, or just turn on the headlights, I bet the battery drops to zero. If the battery voltage stays up, then has to be a bad connection.

That looks great! I've heard of that method of painting before but you really did some nice work.

Re: master cylindeer replacement

I agree with Mart, besides the master cylinder you get will be a reproduction of unknown quality.
