Re: Old Pictures

There are tons of old car crash photos on Youtube. Here's just one example, with AI-enhanced and colorized pictures that are amazingly sharp:...

Re: Latest Restorer Magazine.

I emailed the info address for a third time yesterday and finally got a reply. I was assured a replacement copy will be sent out today.

Re: Latest Restorer Magazine.

Still no reply to my emails, going back almost 2 weeks. Yesterday I tried a different tack, writing to the editor of the Restorer rather than the standard 'info' email address. No response yet but...

Re: Latest Restorer Magazine.

I still haven't gotten mine. I've emailed MAFCA about it twice but have never had the courtesy of a reply. I also never received a renewal notice. I renewed online but have yet to receive a...

Re: Neat Photo You Might Like

The Cliff House restaurant has been closed for a few years now, but there are plans in the works to reopen next year. The big question mark is the name. The property is owned by the government, and...

Re: Poll Re Driving Original Model "A"

For many years I ran a small business working from home. Every day I needed to drive to the nearby post office, on quiet town streets, to drop off and pick up mail. In good weather, I always drove my...

Re: Dielectric grease on starter switch contacts

I had the same problem with sticking switch a number of years ago. No fun. I took the switch apart and filed down the pitting, and used dielectric grease on the surfaces. I drove it for several more...

Re: Restamping a restamped block

When I bought a '28 Fordor out of Oklahoma I drove it to my local California DMV to register it and get YOM plates assigned. I took books with me that specified that Model As used the engine number...

Re: "Edison" Ecometer for Model A Ford

Thanks for the clarification. That makes total sense.

I'm not at all clear on how it could have worked (though evidently it didn't...). All there is inside is a small flap which only partially...

"Edison" Ecometer for Model A Ford

There were lots of aftermarket accessories made for the Model A. This is perhaps one of the most obscure: The Ecometer.

I put "Edison" in quotes in the title. Why? Because it was not invented by...

Re: Restored License Plates

I don't know about fiberglass, but licenseplates.tv makes aluminum replica plates that are very close to originals in size, color and fonts. They no longer make California plates due to problems with...

Re: Source for insulated ammeter nuts

^^^^
That's a great point, which I wouldn't have thought of. In theory, plastic should work as well as Bakelite for insulation. But you're totally right, it wouldn't hold up to heat, which is an...

Re: Logo Lites - Replacing the Turn Signals

I love Logo Lites. Relatively unobtrusive, easy installation, and people can readily see them. A huge plus for safety in modern driving.

Actually, that's not a real split window VW body they used. The windows are not even the right shape. However there are several people who sell new split window sections that can be grafted...

Re: Amusing

The fact that the Barn and CL are free makes it easy and inviting to just keep reposting over and over. Nothing to lose. I see that phenomenon on several collector sites. But the most amusing...

Re: Fun with scammers

Not with Gmail, Outlook, and several others. They strip the IP, all that shows in the header is the location of their own servers (Mountain View, CA for Gmail).

But there's nothing a scammer can...

Re: Fun with scammers

While it can be fun to mess around with these scammers and collect fake checks, there are risks. These are criminals, and they have your address. While the odds of them retaliating against you are...

Re: The only color paint you will ever need for your Model A is... Clear!!

That clear coated Tudor looks ridiculous. Ugh.

But Dave's truck is a whole different story. Wow, that looks great. And I'm glad that a young woman would want to have it in her graduation pictures....

Re: Nickel Tire valve stem Dust Covers

I got a set a few years ago. Obviously they don't look authentic but they really do dress up the wheel. In the Model A world they stand out as 'wrong' but most people I'd run into wouldn't have a...
