Does the welting on the 1932 Ford extend front the front fender through the fire wall to the rear of the gas tank in one continuous length?

Thanks Lawrie. We have a '34 Cabriolet and looking at other cars for the past 50 years that is the first time I ever seen that box. Good idea.EdVS

Our '34 Cabriolet was purchased new on Aug 16, 1934 from Plainfield Motor Co. in Plainfield NJ. I bought from the lady In 1957.
Her Grandson had removed the engine for what, I cant recall. I had to...

Question: What is the large black box on top of the fire wall ?
I have never seen one before.
Perhaps an auxiliary fuel tank for extended range ?

My 34 Cabrio has those welded on reinforcements on the fire wall as well. Is it possible that these were dealer retrofits authorized by the motor company due to "cowl shake" ?
