Re: Model A and T Upholsterers

There may be more to the story than is on the surface. I am a little suspicious. I would get the Classtique side before making any conclusions.

Re: Electric Model A's

On a side note, there was an article in the news today about how manual gear shifting is going the way of the dodo bird. EV's have only one gear and no shifting. Same with hybrid vehicles. The...

A Model A that has been converted to electric drive is advertised today on Craigslist, Vancouver. It looks like a nice installation. One gear drive, no shifting, as is the case with all EV's.

Re: Fuse blowing

Sounds like the cutout is bad. Is it the old mechanical type or an electronic type?

Re: Model A no spark

The ammeter and ignition switch should be tested under current. Sometimes voltage will pass with no current but high resistance will block the voltage when there is any current. Lots of things to...

Re: 354 Ring an Pinion

I ran a very stock 1930 coupe, with 3.78 gears, in the 1960's all over California. I drove at 50 to 55. I got passed by the trucks on the flats but passed the same trucks on grades. Going down...

Re: Pressure plates

I think that a lot depends on the condition of the one that gets rebuilt. If there were major issues with the old one then the rebuilt one may inherit the issues. When buying a rebuilt pressure...

Re: Convert 1929 from Negative Ground back to Positive

This raises more questions than it answers. Why would you want positive ground? Do you also want to convert it back to 6 volts (at great expense)? Has the starter motor been converted over to 12...

Re: wheel / hub cap fitment issue

Photos would help. The Model A hub cap can be hard to put on and require the tabs to be bent in a little. That may be the problem.

Re: Fuse blowing

There are several possible sources of shorts. The junction box as Tom said but also the sockets for the headlights. Methodically go through the wiring to find the short. Disconnect everything and...

Re: Holes not lined up on Universal Housing

The clam shell was changed in June of 1929 when the ear (lug) on top was eliminated from production. See the Service Bulletins page 350 (page 125 in the book), figure 713. The old design and the...

Re: How to grease leaf springs?

I have the exact same tool that Henry's Lady's Man uses. I used it to grease the front springs in my Fordor about a week ago and it made quite a bit of difference. The springs actually moved when...

Re: valve clearence , B motor

Valve clearance has to do with how things change with temperature and how the cam was ground. Some have a ramp that closes up the gap so that the tappet noise is reduced, and some don't. I would...

Re: Peep mirrors

Many many years ago, before the internet, there were articles in the magazines about how the vibration pattern in your rear view mirror could be used to analyze your engine. A certain pattern, say a...

Re: Peep mirrors

I don't know if this will help, but a good way to adjust side mirrors is to have them pointing towards your blind spots. The rear view mirror in the center of inside the car will let you see behind...

Re: Gear Lube?

The 600W oil was good in 1930. (600W does not mean that it is SAE 600 weight.) But that was 90 years ago. The modern gear lube oil has additives that will extend the life of your gearbox, over...

Re: Best riding A?

The heaver 30/31 Fordors will ride better. Grease the springs. I have an antique device that you hammer between the leaves of the spring and then twist the cap to insert grease. But you could...
