Re: Finally got it home
Great toy. I bought one out of a junk yard in the 60's because it had a lot of std Ford parts. That carb. and ignition are two of the hardest things to find. I sold mine four years ago to a...

Re: Lock it or Lose it
Most of the time when you find a cyl out that has been out for years, the pin has been drilled out. Original pins are available I believe from some of the vendors. If drilled out, you may need to...

Re: Southside Obsolete
I have delt with Fred for years, starting in the 80s and he has been especially helpful for those parts that are hard to come by today.

Re: Engine removal '38 deluxe
Its a lot easier to go out or in on 37,38 and 39 std by removing the water pumps to pull and putting them back on when the engine is back in.

Re: Aluminum heads
Metal gaskets IMHO are the best, steel or copper but both liberally coated with copper coat prior to installation. The composition gaskets are a bear to get off and again in my opinion subject to...

Re: Aluminum heads
If you use period heads like Edmonds, stock bolts will work. If I remember right they are torqued to 50 or 55 lbs only. You can get new grade 8 bolts at Rural King or order a set or original bolts...

Re: Where to buy 21 stud repro alu heads
Even the high dollar heads have an eroding problem. I bought a used set and had to have considerable welding done then resurfacing. These heads were some of those that were supposed to build with...

Re: 80lb oil pump with a 50lb gauge ?
May not make a lot of difference because of the relief valve located in under your intake at the front. If there is not a heavier spring or stretched spring in there, excess pressure should just...

Re: 1932 Carburetor adaptor
My 32 Tudor was a Canadian car and had that adapter when I got it. I have since changed over to a later manifold.

shipping frustration
It seems that EPAY is calling things shipped when only a label is created and often 5 or 6 days until the item is accepted by USPS, UPS or FEDEX. Items which are supposed to be priority expedited...

Re: Head Gasket for 21 stud
I have had no problems with copper or steel gaskets well coated with copper coat and would never use the other type especially on valuable heads. The composite gaskets bond to the heads and block...

Re: South Wind Heatew
I have never heard a ticking noise from a SW igniter.
The igniter is actually a glow plug and has no moving parts. If your heater is used you may have to take it apart and clean it. SW heaters...

Re: Petronix better ?
Unless they have made an improvement, their 6v systems were subject to failure with generator voltage spikes. The old fashioned dist. machines will set up a flathead dist. for more RPM than the...

Re: What to check on a 46 Mercury
If the Merc steers well, stops well, holds fair oil pressure 30 Plus at rpm, drives a short distance at 60mph without heating, you have a fine car. Most of them came with a 3:54 gear in the rear so...
