Re: 1931 Victoria Front Pass Window Problems
I suspect the glass is not sitting in the bracket evenly. There should be a nominal 1\2" of glass protruding past the end on each side. I may have shifted or was not correctly installed.

Re: Mitchell Overdrive
There is an organization in the Model A kingdom in Southern California known as the “BLT Guys”. BLT stands for Bryan, Larry, and Tom, the original three members that started the organization. What...

Re: wind wings
Many thanks to those that responded. Some very good suggestions here.
It appears the etched glass wind wings on the market are made by A&L and in only one pattern. Bratton's and Mac's carry them. ...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive
The Model A was designed to run all day long at 45 mph with the engine turning over at 2000 rpm. With a Mitchell 26% overdrive and with a standard ring & pinion you can run all day long at 55 mph...

wind wings
Is there a supplier in the Model A kingdom that supplies custom etched wind wings for closed cars?
My grandson, who is 15 years old, has a 1930 Tudor that we are in the process of restoring. It...

Re: 1928 drive shaft removal
The early 1928 Model A's had a 370:1 ratio ring & pinion that are different from the later cars. The common pullers on the market will not work with these early R&P's. Unless you can make a unique...

Re: Rear axle housing grease zerk question
That can certainly happen if you have a Borg Warner overdrive installed. All are cottage industry conversions and most use that same grease seal for an oil seal on the stub shaft of the overdrive. It...

Re: Rear axle housing grease zerk question
I don't believe the seal is an oil seal, it is a grease seal, and is not designed to keep differential oil from reaching the brakes. I have taken hundreds of rear axle assemblies apart where the...

Re: Driveshaft
The torque is the same as for the rear axle nut, about 100 ft. lbs. I set my torque wrench at 90 ft. lbs and then look for the cotter pin hole and then pull it up to the hole.

Re: Zenith carb question
Dash one and dash two housings are often found mated up. I suspect that back in the day when these carburetors were turned in for a core at places like Pep Boys they were disassembled and tossed in a...

Re: Horn wiring question
The motor section of the horn is isolated from ground. You can apply ground to one terminal and power to the other and the horn will work. You can reverse the leads and it will still work. I suspect...

Re: Need Carb Cleaned or Rebuild
Check that the vent hole in the gas cap is open. If it is plugged it will stop the flow of gas to the carburetor. Repo 30-31 gas caps with the single rivet in the center have a habit of allowing the...

Either one works pretty much the same. However, be sure you have the correct oil baffles on the front and rear ball bearings for whatever housing you intend to use.
The ones with the cast bearings...

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?
I am of the opinion that an ammeter is an essential device that should be on all cars. A glance at it tells a lot about the condition of the electrical circuit.
When you first start the car up the...

Re: Keeps blowing fuses — alternator problem?
I suspect you are losing the ground to the battery. When that happens the voltage from the alternator is not controlled and it raises and burns out the lights.
The usual place it is lost is where...
