Interesting discussion... Perhaps mount the tube and tire, un- inflated. then statically balance the assembly by shifting the rotational position of the tire to minimize / eliminate imbalance....

2speed, if you can see the edge of your car, you have the mirror tipped in too far. The side mirror is supposed to look "out" further to the side.

Referring back to the OP and the rumble lid measurements. I just checked mine (31 Coupe) and the same as reported, 36 1/2 at the top and 35 -3/8 at the bottom

Maybe he needs a dial indicator that has removable tips, then use a "button" tip.

Link worked for me to. My 31' coupe had the Otwell on it when dad bought the car for me in 1963. He bought the car across town in Roseville. It was summer and pretty warm out, he drove the car home...

If you are saying that the clamp has "bottomed out" and its still not tight on the hose, then yes had the same issue. Just barely tight enough to keep from leaking. Those clamps are just a tiny bit...

Just my $0.02 worth. My completely stock 31' is set-up to charge at 10 amps at road speed. That just about "zeros out" with the head lights and tail light, night driving... and I do not do much night...
