Re: Lower bearing and flange assembly 7 tooth
The 4 hole mounting flange on this assembly is a separate piece from the bushing assembly and is pressed onto a finely splined area on the bushing assembly. It was a tight fit from the factory but,...

Re: 12v from 3 brush Ford generator
So Sparky, Nicely done. Can you post the spec/part number/source on the diodes you are using. This would be most helpful for those of us who are capable of soldering and mounting the unit but...

Re: Front End Rebuild Questions
You already have the best fixture there is for holding the spindle. Reassemble it & the king pin, & king pin bearing back into the axle. This will hold the spindle so you can actually put real...

Re: What am I missing? 1930 Model A
You did not mention if the car has ever run since in your possession. Yo DO mention gas leaking around the carb to manifold gasket even with a new gasket. You have a Tillotson carburetor which is...

Re: Repairing Paddle in Vaccum Wiper
The paddle itself is the same size for all the Trico wipers. In the past, there have been rebuild kits with other internal parts for rebuilding the aftermarket (later production) Trico KCX motors....

Re: How much spindle wear is acceptable?
Seems like the question might be what type of reamer did you use? Is it a 2 stage reamer specifically made for King Pins? If not, chances are the two bushings in the spindle were not reamed in the...

Re: Generator Charging
Duffy, Sounds like you may be getting confused about how to set the third brush and you might need to start over. A good rule of thumb is to determine a starting point from which to adjust the...

Re: 31 pickup leaking steering box
Is it possible you're referring to a "Grease END Plate" (not a grease "and" plate)????? If so, all of the Model A parts vendors carry them. It is most commonly referred to as an End Plate Tube with a...

Re: Rear brakes
I agree with Patrick L on this one. Brake drums on any car will "seem" to have high/low spots or be out of round when you spin them by hand. That doesn't mean they have been "turned" out of round....

I'll throw this out there. An incident I experienced several years ago with a modern car with a Ford Heavy Duty 3 spd Trans. I had what sounds like the same issue you've experienced with your Model...

Re: 1930 Model A roadster on Ebay,original?
Yes, it has 31 features but I also think something is "OFF" about that indented firewall. The shape of the indent does not look correct and has nothing to do with the reflection of the manifolds. The...

Re: Testing a cutout
Your rear plate indicates that this probably IS a Model A Generator. If it's a B generator, the difference is that the rear edge of the case might have a chamfer on it but the rear cover might likely...

I think my friend JB-OB is on to something here. Clearance of service brake crosshaft to U-joint housing might be compromised. Also, kudos for the 1000 + miles recently driven and complimentary...

Re: Generator
The "third brush" is the one most directly in view as you look down into the generator with the band off. People are often unaware about how the brush is "adjustable" when those of us use that term....

You didn't mention what kind of carburetor …………. Cast Iron Zenith? Pot Metal Tillotson? Other? If it is a Tillotson, there's a good chance the flange where it bolts to the intake manifold is warped...

You say that your other car runs fine with what would be considered normal adjustment parameters for the GAV. Why not try swapping carbs from one car to the other. This could help determine if the...
