My 1954 Victoria has steel plates welded to the under side of the center section of both chassis rails.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, but no nut on these lock pins, I don't think that they were produced new with them either.
Seems sensible to me that they should be held in place with a nut, but...

I have to dismantle my kingpins to add shims to the thrust bearing and do not not know which way to drive out the lock pins.
How do I tell which way to drive them out?
