I don't know if it applies to "B" cams, but Les Andrews' book calls for .013" for intake valves and .015" for exhaust ford Model A cams. Maybe others here on the Barn will chime in.

They weren't just for aesthetic reasons. I can't remember the exact details, but I read somewhere state or federal law in those days mandated that cars have them in use when parking temporarily...

Shoot the rubber grommet with silicone spray lube or WD40. If that doesn't help, replace it.

While you have it apart, replace the idler gear bushing and hone it to fit. Looks like it may be suffering from a sloppy idler bushing. When the idler bushing becomes worn, the engine will sound...

Finally got the photos. After looking again, I believe the number is B 6312 A1.
So do the 2 pieces depend on a slight interference fit and tension on the crankshaft bolt to keep from spinning?
