Yes that is the position the gear shift won't go up & left toward dashboard.

Shifting to reverse

Can't seem to shift my 29 Roadster into reverse! The gearshift won't go there.
I jacked up the rear end and the rear wheels turn freely; the clutch appears to be engaging......any thoughts?

I understand how this will work. I took a 5/8" plywood out of the bed that had some 1/4" shims to clear the crossmember! So same story with the new boards.

Pickup floor bed

There are 2 options for a pickup floor bed with or without the metal cutout. Will either of these beds work in an original 1929 pickup?

I'm not using the center plate, so just wood & metal strips.....Won't be original but works for me.

Thanks, I think you have the right solution, I agree removing the bed won't do any good!
The next issue is once removed the new slats should be able to be installed from the top, correct? ...

I'm removing the plywood bed in my 1929 Pickup. I can't figure out how they got this piece into the bed. I removed all the bolts but the plywood is under the side lips? How would I remove the wood...

Thanks for all the suggestions I check the O ring & the antifreeze I am using. The timing sounds like the main reason!
Speed is not important problem free from being is the goal.!

Took my '29 Roadster out today for a longer than normal outing, about 5 miles...she performed very well even got her up to about 45 mph. Last fall I had the radiator rebuilt so what happened today?...
