Oops..
It has an interior part chart ~ should be, it has an interior paint chart
for the instrument panel, steering column and garnish mouldings.

It's called Catalog of American Car ID Numbers 1950 -59.

Thanks to mercman for enlarging the photo, I've noticed that 176 is actually 17G.
Compare the G to the other "6's" on the vin plate ~ an easy mistake to make.
That makes it the 17th of July for...

As alt63bird suggested ~ If you look at your data plate again, it says the 8-cylinder engine number (probably a consecutive number with the two-digit engine code at the beginning?) is stamped on...

Can you do a vacuum/pressure check on both of the lines going to the
vacuum advance diaphragm? Something is causing it to go to ATDC.
I've checked vacuum at idle and there is none (500 ~ 550 rpm) ...
