Re: gas cap issue

There is always a series of stains around my hot rod tank cap, expected and accepted as constantly re-cutting the cork rings, don’t care anymore. Now it’s called patina, so save me work don’t care...

Re: How bad is this crack?

I had a good looking one cracked like that. I used a 37 frontend on model AV8 and needed a wider slot so I fabbed a piece that would fit in place of what I had to cut out. I gas weld tacked in place...

Re: Need someone locally, just bought a model T Touring

Looks ok to me as is. If oil at the petcock and liquid in the radiator I would try to start it.

Re: Whatisit

Thanks for the opinion. I guess if it was real cold and hard start would help to prime it with warm gas to fire. Not worth adding it on for me, but don’t throw nuthin out. Another dust collector.

Whatisit

This was in a mess of parts, looks like it lines up with the manifolds so I assume it is some kind of boiler, heat exchanger, Frankenstein add on to the right side of the motor. Fancy brass petcocks,...

Fender for trade

Have 2 left fenders, one for tire one not. Rot at running board, small dent at headlight bar, other rot at headlight bar, either easy fix. Will trade either for passenger side fender, or sell both.

Re: Houdaile oil

I always thought 90w, probably not correct but I used modern 90-140 in mine but will caution one is leaking now, notrefurbished ‘46 shocks, after 10 years will research seal tolerances

Re: '40 Gas, Oil pressure Gauges

I like the old school gauges but temp gauge repair sounds tough so I am trying SW with electro first time. Can’t easily find lower temp 0-200 deg old timely that really work anymore. But for oil so...

Re: Cosidering juice brakes

All I can think of is the western NY weather and salted roads, parking brake was the common obstacle to inspection. I cannot imagine cable brakes working well back in the day, even without salt.
I...

Re: wide 5s

Research showed pickups were 4.5” for 6.50 tire and I believe that also went for Mercury in ‘39. Probably could do 700 tire on 5”, those wheels should be high value.
I had a pair widened to 6”, used...

Re: 21 stud engine best upgrades?

I don’t imagine you want to take it apart, if it ain’t broke....
But if you do, a mild cam sounds better through the tubes, I think the crude iron plumbing muffles it some. The most fun I had...

Re: bad Babbitt Bearing or Valve Poor Quality Valve Job

If the oil pressure is good, I would pull the intake and start checking valve gap, easiest thing to check. If wide, will have to pull heads and grind valves, &/or install adjustable. If pulling the...
