Re: Temp gauge reading and introduction

Alex, my temp gauge has 3 lines with the normal going up to 3rd line at the top. The 2nd and 3rd line are fairly close together. My temp has been to the top line before with no steam or water coming...

Re: 1936 fuel sender access

One picture shows the tape measure coming from the left side wall. Other picture shows the tape coming from the back wall which is very close to the back cross member of the chassis. The metal trap...

Re: 1936 fuel sender access

I think that i was too quick with the info about getting to the gas tank sender cover. Your 36 Cabriolet doesn't even have a back seat. I'm not sure a photo of my sender opening would give you a...

Re: 1936 fuel sender access

On my 36 sedan i have to pull the vertical portion of the back seat forward to get at it. It is a little tight, as i recall, but doing this with the rear seat is necessary to get at that screw that...

Re: 35-36 pickup dash lights

Lawson, I think this is true of all 35/36 gauges. I even tried to enlarge the openings width wise using a file. Then I put in new clear plastic. None of this helped all that much, even with LED...

Re: Steering wheel play

When i had a 48 ford pickup, I had the same problem. I was able to remove a shim from the steering box and it worked for me...no more play. Terry

Re: Running cooler - does this make sense?

This doesn't make sense to me. I have a 36 Fordor and I had my pumps rebuilt by Skip after heating problems. The impellars are changed to push more water quicker. This worked for me. No heating pbms...

Re: 1936 ford two piece fenders

My 36 sedan is a standard and it has the stainless steel welting. The car was pretty much original when I got it. Terry

Re: spare tire cover 36 fill material

I kinda agree with Koates. You're making a Rube Goldberg special out of this "problem". Are you worried about the weight? Terry

Re: 36 water pumps

thanks for the suggestions. I'll use the cornhead grease and keep your precautions in mind. The pumps have been rebuilt by Skip but i can't remember if that included sealed bearings. The pumps still...

Re: Install radiator hardware?

So, it doesn't matter if the bolt comes up thru from the bottom or down thru from the top?
I think I did it your way, Drolston. Been so long i can't remember how I did it. Terry

Re: Oil level. Is your dipstick lying? Make sure you know what you've got.

Just to add more to this, it might have been mentioned already but a lot of the early dipsticks had some kind of gasket material under that round portion just below the curve at the top. Maybe it was...

Re: Wood top ribs question

I'm assuming that all the closed cars for 36 had the chicken wire. And over the wire there was a thin padding material before the long grained top fabric goes on. I'm getting this from the 35-36 Ford...

Another dumb question?

Looking at flathead engine specs, I noticed that with the exception of the '34 ford (40A) there is no A at the end of the model #s Till 1938 (81A). Then they all end in "A" until 1949 (98BA). What...

Re: Choke/throttle rods set up

Re: Generator Pulley fitting an Alternator Question

About the heat, try it both ways and feel the alternator with your hand. I think about 10 miles with each pully would tell you a lot about whether the alternator is overheating. Terry
