Re: ID of Water Take-off please

Yes, it seems they must have been specially cast so I will do the same.

Thanks to all who replied with constructive suggestions - greatly appreciated.

Re: ID of Water Take-off please

Regret I cannot let you hear that - photo was taken in 1938. I'm re-creating that engine.
However, I can let you hear the engine that's in the car now - 305ci blown flathead. The fastest flathead on...

Re: ID of Water Take-off please

I think that showing the whole thing will raise more questions and detract from my original enquiry. I just want to know where the water take-offs came from and whether a pair may be available...

ID of Water Take-off please

A special early V8 flathead has pump-less water take-offs.
Can anyone here identify them, please?

Re: 1935 Rear Wheel Bearing - loose in hub

Thank you for guidance on the seal orientation.

Not sure what is meant by the the axle housing bearing surface? As noted above there is no evidence of wear in any of the bearing surfaces or...

Re: 1935 Rear Wheel Bearing - loose in hub

I'm sure I have the correct combination of hub and bearing. The hub is 1935 and has no pressed-in race as the later ones have. The bearings are part number B1225. The cages show little signs of wear...

1935 Rear Wheel Bearing - loose in hub

My rear hubs have just been pulled showing the bearing grease loaded with very fine metal particles so that the grease looks silvery.
The grease retainers have been pulled showing much wear on the...

Re: cam gear timing 1936 LB engine

The timing mark on the crankshaft gear may be hidden by the oil slinger.
If it is still not visible, this should work:
Turn the engine over until the camshaft timing mark is vertically down.
This...

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

Damn! I got put off there with talk of '35. It is, of course, '32 - thanks Mart.

Edit made.

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

Yes, Frank, for the Batten.
I've always believed that the present radiator shell was a 1932 design, truncated. What have I missed?

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

I will, Mart, when it's got along a bit further.

Why would anyone want to do that to a 21-stud engine?
Because my special copper cylinder heads (Federal Mogul) are 21-stud, but more of that...

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

The cylinder offset is inward toward the centre of the V, so, as you say, TDC in the right bank (looking forward) will be "late" while that in the left bank will be "early".
My initial concern...

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

It is a Pilot engine but that makes no difference really.
In order to preserve material around the lower stud holes each cylinder centreline has been moved 1/8" inward and bored out to 3.1/2",...

Re: V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

Got all you said, B&S.

Heck, since I'm putting together a 286 CI 21-stud, there may be no time for messing with cam jigs, even for sh*ts and giggles. :)

Look forward to your post back - me too....

I could do (have done) that.
As I said, I just like designing and making things.

V8 Camshaft Bolt Pattern

Good morning Barners.
Where can I find a dimensioned drawing of the bolt pattern of V8 camshafts, with the one hole offset?
Any pointers gratefully received.

32-36 Heads Puzzle

A pair of 1932-36 aluminum cylinder heads has turned up, but there are no cast-in numbers or Ford script. There is a suggestion of Canadian origin.

What is the real answer?

Thanks chaps,
Neil.
