Re: what was your first car and how much did you pay

'36 Ford 5w coupe, less engine and trans. $50. in 1960. Sold it
to my bro in '68 when I went over-seas and bought it back in '76
when OPEC had us by the short-hairs and the hobby had "tanked".

Re: Jailbar panel pulled from blacberries

Ah, another diamond in the rough! If you aren't careful, Gary,
you are going to wind up w/ a fleet of just about every model
Ford offered(or wish they had)in the forties!
If memory serves, (and...

Yes, the '37 & 38 models were called that for many years,
at least here on the Best Coast!

Re: My intro - and I'll probably have a flathead question tomorrow

Look like '50 Pontiac to me; very popular for roadsters
back then.......

Don't worry about the cracked port; too common w/ f-heads.
A GOOD machine shop will be able to repair it.

Congrats on...

Re: Three Carburetors

And f.w.i.w., a reputable flathead tuner, told me, not too long ago,
that a 2 carb setup will outperform 3 carbs on a 3/4 race f-head
street engine any day of the week - (especially on Sundays!)

Re: 12 colors available in 1940

All good points this morning, gents.
As for two-tones, was not aware they were offered in '35-40 models. Can't say I've ever seen a stock one anyway...
To Kube's point re color perception; yes,...

Re: 39 pedals in a 36 frame

Late to the party here, but wanted to thank everyone for the
additional info. ("Fine print"), and great D/D/'s closeups of Peter's
beautiful '35 chassis, (LOVE that car!).
When I started to mock...

Re: Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, California in 1935

With new '35 coupe.
No shortage of Full Svc. gas stations w/ repair shops behind.
Great early color footage, too, on video! Thanks!

Re: 36' rear tail pan repair

Ain't that the truth!
Ugh, I do not look forward to this fugly part of the body work;
but you have certainly done an admirable job of it.
Thanks for the tips, and I "tip my hat" to your skills and...

Re: 1936 Phaeton - Indoor cover

Another vote for C.C.C. In the unlikely event they don't stock
one for a particular model, they will make you a custom cover
(or at least they once did).

And a big Thanks from me, Mart. I'm sure there will be many
more tips from my "basic" rebuild I did at the tender age of 19,
back in.....well.....never mind....

Re: Bad rebuilt starter from NAPA

Yep, it's a different world today. I would bet most, if not all of the parts house suppliers, sell cheaper, imported hard parts, especially
starters and alternators. The cores are shipped over by...

Original facility started in Prineville, in 1952, IIRC...

Re: Project getting close to the finish line

Yowza; absolutely gorgeous. The contrast of the exterior and
engine colors is beautiful. I'm green with envy.....
(And that stellar grille is making my jeans tight.)

Dang; fresh coffee stains all over my keyboard!
Thanks, Tinker and Rudolph; you made my day!

("Yep, I can make that run..." And I'm worried the engine in
my coupe is stuck after sitting 55yrs....

Re: PNW Flathead Rebuilders

Portland Engine Rebuilders is also a good firm.
They did the hot little flatty in a 34 pickup, recently donated to
our museum (WAAAMuseum.org). Also did a 460 BBF for me
more recently. High...

Re: WHO Is the Oldest Early V8 Forum Member?

I'd say BOB certainly qualifies for the Top 3, at this point.
