Rear axle key orientation

I pulled the rear drums on the '29 coupe a few days ago, cleaned everything up but I forgot to check how the axle key fits back in the axle groove. I have the ones Snyder's sells with the somewhat...

Re: WHO Is the Oldest Early V8 Forum Member?

BobNH just reminded me that my first old Ford was a 1940 pickup we summer kids found after going to the Skowhegan Fair in Maine one warm evening. Paid $75 scrounged up from all the kids and 'dusted'...

Re: 6 volt battery, who has the best?

I’ve had good luck with NAPA Group 1 batteries but will switch to the larger Group 2 in the ‘37 and ‘40 next time since that’s the correct size (dimensions) for those cars. I usually get about 8...

Re: Synthetic Oil for Model A

The thermostat would help a lot. It did on my A and especially on the V8 that had a lot of sludge when I bought it 5 years ago. No oil filter but I’ve made it a practice to change the oil every...

Re: Looking for opinions - compression low on 2 & 3

Thanks, Ken, for all the information and video links. I have a number of those fittings and HF is fairly close by for the rest so I'll put one together next week.

Re: Looking for opinions - compression low on 2 & 3

KGBnut, your HF leak tester sounds like a good idea. Could you list the parts you purchased and any assembly details? I’d like to try it on my A.

Re: The new 1940 Ford Book is now available

I’m really looking forward to having this book as a reference for my Fordor!

Re: Trickle charger for 1926 roadster pickup

I agree with bob p, just put a regular charger on the battery once a month, keep the cells up to the correct level and you should be OK. I charge the batteries on my cars on or about the first of...

Re: Convex mirror

Yes they will. I got used to both convex mirrors very quickly and it does help with a wider view. I used the convex replacement heads to keep a fairly stock look. On my pickup, I use a small...

Re: Convex mirror

I bought mine from Joe's Antique Auto, just the heads, bolt is in center of back and have them on both sides of the Fordor. Some may not like the idea but I find they eliminate much of the blind...

Re: Hood prop for 37 Ford pickup?

There’s a little detent on each side of the cowl that the rear edge of the hood side fits into when you lift up the side. It’s important to have the rubber corner protectors so you don’t scratch the...

Re: Affordable Ford V8's

The 1939 and 1940 Tudors and Fordors are relatively inexpensive for what you get. The 39 has that classic dash and floor shift as well as the last year for bulb headlights before Ford went to sealed...

Re: aviation gas

We use it in our small tools in the fire department just for the reason that it doesn’t deteriorate as fast as auto gas. The octane is 100 and others may comment on any effect that might have on...
