I agree plates under rear axle. Your second picture appears to have them installed

Perhaps these are spare or another vehicle

Don’t know where else they would go.

Solder or brazing likely better than JB weld. Although that is some tough stuff properly installed. Patched a lowerUnit on outboard Motor that lasted years in tough saltwater conditions.

Thanks to all. The flattened area on original bolts certainly fit very well around the axle casing which is not true round.
The flattened area I first thought was ground but the thickness of bolt...

I used 90 weight oil from Napa in my manual transmission.
Thinking of a multi weight in the rear end. 90-140 as mentioned.

A specific Spring shop is not in the Raleigh NC area. Seems like that is one of the trades that cannot survive on Spring Work only. Similar to Radiator...
