Re: Tube shock conversion for 1940 2 dr

I go to a NAPA guy who can look up any shock size. He needs to know the weight on distance between the shock mounting studs and how much travel you want up and down. Two inches each way is pretty...

Re: 1940 fan shroud

My 40 coupe doesn't have any of the add on panels and it runs a cool 180 all the time even in traffic on a very hot day. The panels by the engine sides are not installed; previous owner told me that...

Re: 40 Coupe won't wake up from winter sleep

Tubman, I bought the 40 last Feb. and the owner didn't really know a lot about the engine except that the engine had adjustable lifters. What I know is that the engine has A heads, 97 Stromberg carb,...

Re: Best place to advertise car 4 sale

Just sold a 50 Ford on Facebooks Market place in one day, could not get much interest on the Hamb or The Ford Barn but it sold rather cheap for an original 43K miles car.

Re: 40 Coupe won't wake up from winter sleep

So many good suggestions and it looks like the Stromberg 48 off my 42 merc engine solved the problem. The vacuum improved out of the 12 range but still not in the green so I will follow other...

Re: 40 Coupe won't wake up from winter sleep

A lot of good ideas, Thank you all. But 1st, when taking a car out of storage, I always crank the engine over for 10 sec to get some oil flowing. Then I pour a little gas down the carb, cars usually...

Re: Generator question

40 and up generators have screw on pully's, earlier generators have a key way. But a 39 standard has a screw on pulley so you can use a fan mounted pulley on those later two brush generators.

Re: Removing Engine from '40 Ford Question

Re: New toy....

I'm not a fordor fan but in a 32 or a 40, I can tolerate them. Color also makes you attracted to models that you wouldn't normally look at twice. Yours is really a good looking car and I hope you...

Re: window glass for 37 Ford Woodie

I just bought some glass from Classic Glass in Conn. and though the service was a little slow, the quality and price was very good and they have patterns. 1-800-889-3826

Re: Carb Spacer

My 40 has a 97 Stromberg with a black spacer. I noticed that when I get home from town and open the hood; there are droplets of water on the carb base and the base feels cool to the touch.

Aren't the original bugs in the middle of two pieces of glass? Do these etching kits have a year with the stencil?
