Re: Headlight problems
I assume it was. The wire cloth coverings match the same color code as the original wiring according to my shop and owners manual. Red/yellow tracers for the headlights and a black wire for the...

Re: Headlight problems
LOL! I thought you meant the dimmer control on the dashboard lights!! So the foot switch can cause problems?

Re: Headlight problems
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I don't see anything obvious yet. My dimmer switch is not even hooked into the wiring and I don't see any bare wires yet. Could the light switch itself, be bad?

Re: Headlight problems
The current wiring harness was installed in 2012. It seems that both the headlight and taillight wires are overheating when the switch is pulled out. I've traced all the parts of each wire I can see....

Re: Headlight problems
Now the taillight wire is getting hot. It was smoking the connector by the firewall in the engine compartment When I disconnect it, the headlight wire cools off. With just the parking lights on, the...

Headlight problems
The other night I was coming home (1940 Deluxe, 6 volt, positive ground) and the headlights started flickering off and on. The first thing I thought of was a partially broken wire somewhere. I didn't...

Re: leaky water pump
I guess I should take the fan and radiator out. It seems like that would make it easier, or is it worth the trouble?

leaky water pump
Well, I guess it's time to replace my water pump. Should I do them both at the same time? What would be the best and easiest way to do this? Remove the radiator, fan, fenders, etc? It's a 1940...

Re: Nedd a new spotlight
I took mine off, then apart, then delicately hammered it out. Isn't perfect, but I can live with it. I would rather leave it off, but then I have to figure out what to do with the ugly hole in the A...

Nedd a new spotlight
It looks like my hood caught my driver's side spot light and put a little dent in the chrome housing. I'm going to take it off if I can't find a new one for a decent price. Anybody know where I could...

Re: touch up paint for the 53
paul2748 has the best idea. Go to your local auto paint store. They can match it on the spot and mix it in rattle cans, pints, gallons, etc. I've been doing that for all my cars, for years.

more carb problems
Every time I take this thing apart, I think I've solved the problem but another one pops up. It was stumbling real bad so I took out the 5.5 power valve and put the old 7.5 pv back in. I take it for...

Re: Wiring my new alternator
I wondered why after my short drives, I would put it back on the Battery Tender and it would take a couple of days, not hours, for it to fully charge and get a green light on the tender. Now I know...

I just mounted the new alternator on the engine. I just wanted to double check on here before I wire it up. I discovered something a little curious when I took the generator off. The field wire on...

Thanks for the help. It sounds like big job and Ken/Alabama basically did it the same way with drolston agreeing. I'll do that setup tomorrow.
