had similar problem with my 29 pu found the front cross member loose amd missing half of the rivets so I bolted it in tight and that heilped but it still chatters some
also the clutch disc on mine...

I pulled my radiator and filled it with cleaning vinegar - got alot of rusty gunk out - soaked it for several hours

thanks for replies - I do have to use this block if possable because of the bonded title...
Im bring the block to a machine shop next week for possible overhaul and I wanted to go with the 1 piece...

the casting around the exhaust valve guide is broken on all 4 of the exhaust guides from the look of it it has been like this for a long time I couldnt see this until the guide was removed from the...

thanx for replies I was thinking 9/19 8 point as my 1/2 didnt fit and an open end 9/16 does although that doesnt seem like I can get the leverage to brake them loose
I like that tool in the pics...

is there a special tool for the square haed on the crank journal bolt or can an 8 point socket work?
also I have pin holes in the dipper pan Im thinking I should braze them but has anyone ever used...

this pic is first start up after i freed the stuck valve but it does smoke quite a bit when warmed up
