Re: Oil Filter Poser

There are real problems with some filters where the filter media is really thick, so there's an upper limit to how fast oil will transit the filter. Mobil1 filters had a bad rep, back when I was on...

Re: Oil Filter Poser

It's both, really. Per your link:
The valve is designed to open when the oil filter becomes clogged or when the oil is too thick.

Bottom line, the bypass/relief valve opens in any situation where...

Re: How do you all test for an intake manifold air leak?

Is there a central internet repository for Bob Bidonde infographics? If not, we really need one.

Re: Plug connector options?

I saw that one, but it makes me nervous. I want something with a closed end.

Re: Plug connector options?

RSC is too pricey, the brass terminals should work just fine.

The main problem I have to solve is that the spade terminal on the stock plug connector relies on spring action to work – the...

Re: Oil Filter Poser

I saw that video and had a similar reaction.

I think people confuse the anti-drainback valve, which is the silicone membrane that you can see inside the ring of holes around the filter and which...

Re: Plug connector options?

Yeah, it was worth a try but this is not a solution. I've ordered some 8mm Model T wire and the brass Model T terminals from Snyder's. I think I can make some connectors that resemble their '26-'27...

Re: Plug connector options?

Well, this sort of worked. 3 out of 4 of the soldered connectors are holding so far. One snapped and was too damaged to be put back together at the required length, so I made a wire.

I dunno,...

Re: Original Intake Manifold

Are you able to get the cracked intake apart from your current exhaust manifold? Sometimes they fuse together with age and it's very difficult to remove one without damaging the other. Worth looking...

Re: Seatbelt Question

It's an odd position to say that, since you do one risky thing, you may as well also do a second risky thing. Unless I suppose there's a set number of hours you plan on being out on the freeway with...

Still made by Tod in Ohio, aren't they?

Re: photo on new Snyder catalog

Obviously the correct solution, I dunno why the previous 30 people didn’t think of it.

Re: Batt. Supercharger

I looked up the patent and it's for the hourglass-shaped component visible in the second image attached to post #1. Apparently that's the entire product, there are no other parts. It's supposed to...

Re: Seatbelt Question

Here's the video I did for the coupe belts. Might give you a couple ideas.

Re: SNYDER’S 5.5 head vs 6.1

I do use mechanical advance. There are generally two ways to do mechanical advance: on the distributor shaft, using the Phillips/Nu-Rex toroid accessory, or in the distributor body itself using a B...

Re: Batt. Supercharger

I thought about posting that ad from the Fahnestock book myself, but annoyingly it doesn't say anything about how the product is supposed to work.

Re: Seatbelt Question

I think the overall concept for bench seat belts tends to be similar across the different models. You take the seats out. You find some spots where bolts go through to the frame. You upgrade those...

Re: Milling Snyder 6.0 Head

Worth noting that, overall, milling heads to gain compression is a tradeoff at best. You get the compression, but at the cost of further shrouding the valves – which didn't have great flow to begin...

Re: SNYDER’S 5.5 head vs 6.1

I actually have a Winfield 7, I was just reporting what I've observed on this forum over the last few years.

I haven't actually gotten the Winfield running yet, I started working on it in December...

Re: photo on new Snyder catalog

I thought it might be a RHD car, and they flipped it to put the wheel on the “correct” side.

Re: Oiler Bottle with Stainless Needle Tip

Good for the horn too, and for oiling under a nut that you’re tightening down.

Re: Modern point set

Are you asking just about the points themselves, or are you asking about the best upper plate design?

The modified upper plates work OK overall, it’s just that the point gap is harder to set...

Re: SNYDER’S 5.5 head vs 6.1

I mentioned in another thread, back in the '30s 6:1 on poured bearings was the way cars came from the factory, there's nothing weird about it. I agree that the conventional wisdom that HC is bad for...
