Re: Gil Baumgartner-CTCI Gil's Garage

Certainly. He has left a lasting legacy with lots of great knowledge. I found his page on fordomatic transmission identification to be very useful in figuring out where the engine and transmission...

Re: fordomatic

I think the fordomatic 2 speed thing confuses people.

most fordomatics were 3 speed. most started in 2nd and shifted to 3rd (1:1). 1st could be obtained from the column at a stop or low enough...

Re: Aerostar spring isolaters.

So I finally got a chance to put it all together.

Bare in mind that I like a neutral stance. Not ready looking for really low.

Moog CC850 springs + Mr Gasket 1285 spring isolators.

I stayed...

Re: Carburetor/ Fuel Pump Information

I have had good success with a carter and a Holley 4000 aka teapot.

I rebuilt the carb... new float & needle+seat. The carb has a "Ted Eaton" vacuum mod for a 57+ distributor.

This is what I...

I'm interested mainly in the top isolator... I guess my main concern is probably that it will be too low and I will want pad it a bit.

I know this is probably best left for the H.A.M.B but I searched and couldn't find direct part numbers.

Who has used aerostar springs with isolators and if so, what parts did you use and where did...

Re: Fordomatic torque converter seal part numbers

Thank you.

I can't remember the trans number but it's a medium case fordomatic from a 56 tbird.

At sometime in this cars history it had it's motor and box swapped out for a 56 tbird.

Re: My 56 Transmission need rebuilt?

The fordomatic is an okay transmission. All the leaky seals are available and pretty easy to replace. We even have a local supplier here down under.

I've just done this on my medium case 56 trans....

Re: 1956 Fairlane Victoria flex plate 292 fordomatic question

It is completely possible to line up the flex plate and spacer rings with the crank flange bolt holes.

If you...

Re: 1956 Fairlane Victoria flex plate 292 fordomatic question

I just replaced the flex plate in my 56 Victoria. I can confirm that the flex plate came with three rings and they all go on the convertor side. The flex plate mates directly to the crankshaft...

Re: Fuel leaking around large brass plug (fuel inlet valve?)

I had to resurface the sealing face due to pitting and the fact that someone had dropped it in its past. I made a tool to do it. I threaded a shaft to keep the tool straight.

Re: Replacement radiator fan for 292

The ford 4 blade should be enough. Is it masking another cooling issue?

I'm loath to replace an OEM part that seemingly doesn't work well enough.
