Re: Bridge washer installation

You will need to measure the length of the stem in the Coker tubes as it may be shorter and therefore if using a bridge washer, it will seat lower once installed in the rim.

Re: if you could go back in time, what Model "A" parts would you bring back?

Being primarily an early guy, I would grab as many open bail light switches, on-off-dim light/horn rods, Ford script slant pole coils, upper script fluted headlight lenses, Ford script drum tail...

Re: Trunk hinge install Help!!

The bracket in your third picture attaches to the side of the trunk opening on the body. The hinge pin is screwed in from the inside (head facing towards the outside of trunk) and into the lower...

Re: 28 Broadlace trim

Here's the broadlace trim on my VE-28 Coupe. It is very close to original. If your interior will be in the brown tones, your broadlace trim would also be in brown.

Re: 28 Broadlace trim

The broadlace trim was used on Coupes, Sport Coupes, Tudors, and Business Coupes with cloth interiors in 1928 and not used in the 1929 models.
The RG&JS does indicate that Canadian Sport Coupes also...

Re: Nitrocellulose

Hibernia Restorations used to mix nitrocellulose lacquer but I doubt they still sell it. I bought several gallons from them over 20 years ago and was very satisfied with it.

Re: Does anyone actively maintain an index to Model A technical articles?

"Technically Speaking" is a set of 14 volumes of tech articles put out by The Model A Restorers Club. They are a compilation of articles originally published in the Model A News.
They are a wonder...

Re: 1928 Phaeton Tail light

Sorry, what you have is not correct for a 1928 Phaeton. Your tail lamp should look like these.

Re: Theft of original license plates - is this an issue?

I also worry about losing radiator and gas caps as well as valve stem dust covers. The chances are probably greater that these would be taken from a car event than simply while parked at the market.

Re: Most Difficult Restoration Tasks

Actually, the first generation rear engine mounts (on the first 200 vehicles) go together more like current Float-a-Motors. There is a bracket riveted to the frame rail that a thick piece of rubber...

Re: Most Difficult Restoration Tasks

For me currently is assembling the very early 28 equalizer break system along with the first type rear engine mounts. Everything must be done in sequence otherwise it won't all fit together. I...

Re: Bent timing pin

My guess is that the timing pin was bent when someone was reinstalling the engine. They probably used a 2X4 to pry the engine into place, placing it down in the front crossmember and pushing against...

Re: Steering wheel paint

It would help if you mentioned which steering wheel you have. I have repaired red '28 wheels by filling cracks with Super Glue and fine dust from another red wheel. After that, I simply sanded the...

Re: model A distributor cap ?? double Script ??

If Bakelite, it is an original, used from BOP through March 28. I think that the last one that sold on eBay brought around $40.

Re: Original Fan Belts...NOS

Yes, both of those original belts sold right away! The first original one I bought was at Hershey probably 15+ years ago. I paid $600. It was not NOS.
I have seen NOS brown fan belts sold for...

Re: Why are there so many more 1930 grill shells than 1931s?

There were actually three radiator shells made for 28/29. From the beginning of production through February '28, the lacing was woven through holes rather than riveted to the shell. It also had a...
