Re: Gunk in gas tank

Get the gunk out - water and/or mineral spirits should do just fine. I used Evaporust in my tank to clear the rust. I bought a 5 gallon bucket of Evaporust. Soaked for a couple of days, then...

Re: Won't Shift Into 2nd or 3rd

I'd like to update everyone. I installed the new to me shift tower, it had new forks and detents, very good shafts, as well as the new shifter. It was certainly a learning curve, but I am happy to...

Re: New Radiator Opinions

Prater Radiator in Orlando(just south of downtown) does a very good job. I took mine back after many, many years - they repaired it free of charge. Original price was fair.

Re: Won't Shift Into 2nd or 3rd

I'm hoping it will all be fine with this part. The price was good, and I'll change out the shifter.

Re: Won't Shift Into 2nd or 3rd

Thank you. It's hard to see in the pics, but the part of the fork that the shifter ball rides in is very worn. Probably 110 degree instead of the 90 it is new.

Re: Won't Shift Into 2nd or 3rd

Ok, so upon further inspection after cleaning the inside of the transmission, the gears seem to have minimal wear where they engage, and have some lash between them. I'm not sure how much is...

Re: Won't Shift Into 2nd or 3rd

Ok, so I got this thing opened up. The forks have a deep groove where they engage the reverse/low and 2nd/3rd gears. the gears seem to be smooth and round in the slot where the forks ride.

Won't Shift Into 2nd or 3rd

I have recently started driving my Model A. At first, the transmission shifted easily into 2nd and 3rd gear. It gradually became more and more difficult to get to shift into 2nd and 3rd. Now, I...

Great to see! I'm not to far away from that with mine, although I have put the body on mine, but I'm chicken I guess.

Re: Replacing Dash Panel

Just the other end of that harness. It's in the junction box on the firewall. If you are concerned about the conniption of the other wires also, order the cutout to terminal wire and the coil to...

Re: Replacing Dash Panel

Electrical connections are made with nuts. The speedo is mechanical. If you're concerned with the age/condition of the wires, why not order a new set from your favorite vendor?

Re: 12 volt gauge question

I'm familiar with your car over on the HAMB. Not being an electrical expert, I guess that I don't know about additional current going through an ammeter that wouldn't go through a voltmeter.

Re: 12 volt gauge question

The ammeter should work on either 12 or 6 volt. Do you specifically need a volt meter or would the ammeter work?

Re: chrome vs nickel

Does anyone know if nickel can be plated over chrome?

I know its backwards, but with many of the reproduction brightwork being chrome, it is something I have thought about.
