Re: Synchronized Transmission

Can you shift to 3rd gear around 15 mph without lugging the
motor? Or better yet, when we say "Shift early" what can be

Re: Speedometer "sticking" at random

There is a specific type of lubricant for speedometers still made.
Just can't find where I it put it!
White grease will work, I have used it at times. Maybe it's not the best,
but in So Cal, I...

Re: Westach Ammeters.

I have had a few chepo ammeters go bad. Yep, the most popular complaint is
the needle popping off. I for one will get one of these better units. I need
reliability in my cars, not breakdowns.

Cluster bearings-Has the problem of the quality been resolved?
Ammeters-Can we ever get a quality reproduction?

Note to all suppliers : I'm tired of...

Put 600w back in. Some STP is a good suggestion as well.

Re: 20-0-20 amp meter

You would think a good quality ammeter would be the easiest item to buy considering how important it is. For starters, a fire!

Re: Flickering Headlights

When you select the choice of what you want, the switch should pop into a set position .
In other words, you really should not be able to swing the lever much at all. Sounds like the contacts need...

Re: Cluster bearing solution?

I just was given a transmission & bellhousing from a family that has passed away.

Now I can dissemble the unit and try to engineer something. I'm still favoring the bronze bushing idea. Why?...

Re: Breaking news: 2024 MAFCA Board

Is it true there is only one Model A club in Tennessee? Or at least there is
only one that posts activities in the MAFCA magazine.

Re: Greasing the Throwout Bearing

If you are lucky to have some N.O.S.ones that are real old, the bearing was not sealed. So, you were actually able to push grease into the bearing. Yes, they exist but very rare. We had a great...

Re: powermaster 6 volt alternator install 1928 model a

A 43" belt works on Model A's. To my shock & surprise, the same size on a
WWII Jeep.

Re: powermaster 6 volt alternator install 1928 model a

Re: Light switch yardstick trick

Gaffer tape is used in the film industry. It is flat black to keep the reflection down so the cameras don't pick up a reflection while filming.

Re: Gas shut-off leaks-I think

If you mean the part of the valve that screws into the tank? Les is

Re: Air Filter or not

So some here think that not having a filter on the motor is ok?

I was always schooled by some good mechanics that it is a good way to
shorten the life of a motor. I bet Ford enjoyed it. More...

Re: Snyders #A-9193-T, trouble with crud in the bottom of my fuel tank.....

I use the filter in the tank as well. Any particles you can save from
being grinded through the shutoff valve surfaces has to be better

Re: Cleaning the gas tank in place?

If I had to try to clean the tank while in the car,
I would first mask off everything around the tank top.
Maybe cover most of the front of the car. Empty the tank,
Then remove the shutoff valve...
