Re: 1948 non syncro 4 speed truck trans

It is a boat anchor, unless it is in a larger truck. Don't put it in a car. You're better off with a 3 speed trans. If you want to get fancy, go for a T-5 or something similar.

Re: 8BA Cracked Head F-1

I have to get back onto getting mine running after 2 years of sitting. Have to put in a new Fuel tank and lines. Get all that Red Kote BS out of everything. I hate re-doing stuff over again. I know...

Re: 49 F 1 Cowl Vent Seatant

I did sharp lip up. I installed it and then shut the vent for a week to seat the gasket. I then opened it and it stayed put. I also did that to get it to fit properly, as they don't come in the shape...

Re: Sequence for tightening of fan belts 8BA

When I did mine a couple of years ago, I recall having a hard time. I ended up tightening the fan belt firat and doing the waterpump/gen belt second. I used a bar under the front of the generator...

Re: 52 F1 rear spring shackle lock bolt issue

Do you have any of the originals left? Try them and see how they fit. A lot of the repo stuff is not up to par with the original hardware. Could also try to find some NOS ones also.

Re: 59 flathead JB weld or weld crack

My 8BA bock has several of those. I chose to ignore them. Doesn't leak.

Re: F-1 8BA Reinstall

Alan- He has a recirculating heater, so the motor is in the unit. 3rd pic shows the unit. Only the Fresh Aire heaters had the blower motor out under the fender.

Re: F1 front brake grabbing

Are you getting a good flow of brake fluid from both sides when you bleed it? You don't mention new rubber brake lines in what you have replaced. They can collapse internally and look good on the...

Re: Installing a new Carpenter starter in a 1952 pickup

Just have your original rebuilt or find a good used one. Millions still around. Send the Carpenter one back.

Re: Part names

Ford would not show a basic number ( 9025 ) without an explanation such as " serviced in XXXX part". Closest number I find is 9023, which is a tube, air vent used in panel truck gas tanks.

Re: 48 coupe---This Thing Works !

I've had a Craftsman one I bought in the 70's. Still have it. Works pretty good.

Re: 48 F-1 running board configuration

Ford lists the boards under the same part number as 7C 16450-F and 7C 16451-F for 48-52. Yet I have only seen the wide boards on 48-50. My parts book is the 48-54 edition.

Re: what does EBA stand for ??

From an old parts guy's perspective, the early years, say pre 1950, the prefix's on a part number did not tells us much. I started in the 70's and by then the system had 99% of the bugs out. When you...

Re: 1948-1952 Ford F-7/8 parts

Too bad they're not the same as a half ton. Those I have a few of.

Re: Thats not a toy, THIS IS A TOY!

The Half track is also impressive! In the early days of the MV Collectors club here in Conn., we used to have our annual meet at the Bradley Air Museum. They built a building on the west side of the...

Re: Yoke nut tool

Ford did have a tool for that purpose. It was a 3 foot flat bar with a rectangular end. At the end it had a hole in the center to get a socket thru and 4 holes so you could bolt it directly to the...

Re: Do I need new brake lines?

If you're starting fresh with new cyls , etc..., do the lines. Cheap insurance plus you're starting with all new components.

Re: 1951 F2 Information

Those are all tough items to find. I don't believe any of what you need is being reproduced yet. F-1's are much more desirable than a F-2 or F-3. The F-2 and F-3 are basically the same as for body...

Re: 1952 F-1 Project

The fender extensions are hard to find, no matter what year( 48-50 or 51-52 ) I was lucky, I found 2 NOS ones for my 1950. Fiberglass is out there. Carpenter's is working on them. Don't know if he...

I have a beam type that I bought in 1974 and it's still accurate. I also have 3 of the Harbor Freight ones and they are also accurate against a professional Snap On. I use the HF ones in my lawn...

Re: 46 grill guard revisited

I was not listed in the 1950 parts catalog , but I found that it did go obsolete as of July 1953. Ford never kept accessories very long in cataloging, especially if they did not sell very well. Still...
