Re: Is this radiator worth recoring?

He wasn't questioning it. Neither him nor I knew what was best. That's why I asked you guys.

Re: Is this radiator worth recoring?

The owner of the car is driving to Snyder's (this week yet I think) to pick up a new flat tube radiator. Thanks for the input everyone!!

Re: Is this radiator worth recoring?

I took it to the shop and he was more than happy to re-core it. He was concerned about the steel brace that runs across the bottom and he could only get flat tube cores. So I'm going to recommend a...

Is this radiator worth recoring?

1923 coupe. Car is largely original and owner has no intention of restoring. Need a side support and new core. Round tube. Should we recore or replace the radiator?

Re: starter not engaging

Yeah it needs a new spring and bolts. Wish I would have included them in my last order to save shipping costs. I'll get them next time I have a bigger order.

Re: starter not engaging

Got the replacement in from Snyders. Here is a comparison between the two. The new one is one the left. The original is stamped "Eclipse Bendix Made in Elmira NY USA" and also has a ton of patent...

Re: starter not engaging

So if you have one without the spring is it an original part or were they reproduced as well?

Re: starter not engaging

The bendix with the return spring looks made different to me. You cannot see the pinion gear spiral on this model. On a bendix without the spring you can see the spiral.

Re: starter not engaging

There's a spring. I even called Mac's and they said there's a lightweight spring to push the gear back out of the flywheel. He said if I didn't have one it's missing.

Re: starter not engaging

Look at the original style bendix on Snyders or Mac's. There is a very light spring at the end opposite of the flat heavy spring.

Re: starter not engaging

I just noticed... Mine doesn't have that small pinion gear spring. Should I get a bendix that has that or isn't it necessary?

Of course I will. I didn't have time yesterday though and just wanted to get some opinions.

starter not engaging

Went out to start my 30 today and the starter won't engage. It's spinning and sounds a little "rattley". I haven't taken it apart yet but for those of you who have worked on them a lot can you give...

Re: What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

Not my A but my 69 F250... Drove it through college. Rough looking truck. I always parked it at one of the girls dorms. One day I came out to it to find a note that said... "Why don't you park...

Re: Sad pic...

You can see right where they went out the windshield bending up the visor. Took the driver side pillar out. Probably hurt. Bad.

Re: Do you drive your A in the snow or stormy weather?

Only wash it a couple of times per year and I don't stream the hose on it. Light mist and I stay away from the windows.

Re: Do you drive your A in the snow or stormy weather?

Rain bothers me. I don't like the idea of it getting into the door seams or the cowl. Anyone ever see a cowl rust? Lol. Salt is the real deal killer. My 2000 Ford Explorer that I bought new is...
