Re: Clutch finger adjustment

I’ve adjusted fingers with everything still in the car. It ain’t easy, but it can be done. Securing the locknuts was the hard part for me.

Re: rotor cap

I’ve never been able to bend the rotor without breaking it. Nor have I ever achieved the recommended 0.25. I gave up, and in 60+ years of driving Model A’s I’ve never noticed any trouble with this...

Re: Westach Ammeters.

$95! They're pretty proud of ‘em. I paid only $125 for my first A, and I got the whole car!

Re: Carb Disassembly Tips

"Use hollow ground screwdrivers that exactly fit the screw slot width and length".
That’s the ticket.

Re: What year is this car???

The fluted headlight lens are ‘28. The wheels are ‘30-‘31. But the body and doors would indicate ‘29. I’ll go with ‘29.

Re: What year is this car???

28-29s had a date stamp in the inner firewall upper driver’s side. Sometimes theyre still visible. That can give you a clue.

Re: I'm Back!

I’ll be 79 on 4/3/24. There’s no question this aging biz is taking its toll. I am much more
cautious about when and where I drive my Model A. City traffic is crazy and country roads are almost...

Re: Abandoned roadster

I met a girl in college in 1966 who said there was an old Ford in a field on her parent’s property, and I could have it free just for the taking. She drove me out to the farm and as we approached the...

Re: 1930 coupe need new left front fender

First, take Brent’s advice on repros. Second, I would suggest that you remove the fender, then remove the bondo everywhere it exists. Then get a hammer and dolly kit from HF and read and teach...

Re: 28-29 Sport Coupe belt trim

I was very lucky and found a good set on line for $200, 700 miles away. Worth the drive, but it was a real challenge to install. The outer beauty piece is thin and springy, and easy to dent or...

Re: Tow Insurance

I dropped AAA after they refused a tow because I was on an unpaved road. Ridiculous. Added tow to my Hagerty policy. Cheaper than 3A and no problems.

Re: spark plug recommendation needed

Interesting, Fred. What is your usage? I’ve been running new Autolite 3076 plugs since October ‘23 and have found them just fine for around town driving. Haven’t been on a long tour with them yet. ...

Re: Model "A" Goals For 2024

Attempt to get the carb on my coupe dialed in for better performance. Too cold to work in the garage now. Have to wait till spring. It drives OK, but the idle isn’t right.
