The idle screws on the carb should be open(turned out) around 1 1/2 turns from a seated position. Also turn the idle speed screw on the linkage in to increase the idle rpm. Give it some choke to get...

There is a resistor under the dash. Have you bypassed it? If not, you will not get any spark. Never mind, I forgot you are running right off the battery.

As I said, green from the distributor goes to - on the coil, red from the distributor goes to + on the coil, brown from the distributor goes to ground. Hot lead from the battery goes to + on the...

It should be wired just like I said in post 6. As I said, I have this exact same distributor on my engine for 25 years so I think that qualifies me as knowing how it should be done. Period.

You sent that distributor to me and it worked perfectly here. I have had the exact same distributor on my 39 for 25 years

You have an electronic Mallory distributor. The red lead from the distributor goes to + on the coil,green goes to - and brown goes to ground. The battery connects to + on the coil. This is for a...

I also agree on the horsepower numbers, but at least they didn't have any of that 200 hp BS. Good job of pointing out those useless little air filters. Also curious that they didn't drill the lifter...
