Also important to not overtighten the airhorn screws.
I use an aircraft in/lb torque screwdriver, set to 7 in lbs, just enough to flatten the lock washers.

These work perfectly for what you want to achieve.
Cut your own 3/16" rod to length and thread the ends 10-32 with a die. Eliminates the "mush" of the old rod and can also be used on the choke...

Chances are the one with the triangular base has the 3rd upper idle squirters and the notched venturis to match them. The highspeed airbleeds are also smaller. The two carbs will be kinda OK running...

Some nuances: The bowls have 97 size major venturis; the bases are counterbored from the top to accept the bigger venturi, and use 81 size throttleplates. The bowls have no slot in the powervalve...

This is where Stromberg's got their reputation as leakers.
The area of the gasket surface should be spotfaced, along with the use of modern nitrile/cellulose or nylon gaskets.
