Re: Changing Intakes and Carb

Yeah, I've seen those "trick set-ups" years ago. They didn't work very well as the accel pump wasn't rich enough, or timed well enough to have a smooth transition to 4 barrel operation. (read, bog)...

Mid 50s F-100 parts

Re: 1957 Ford Wiper Transmission Cable routing

I now see that. Humph, very classy indeed. Left over chev engineering. How about using a complete 58 Ford setup? It seems to mount the same way.

Re: 1957 Ford Wiper Transmission Cable routing

Why oh why are you messing with that old obsolete stuff? It didn't work all that well when it was new, and now it's over fifty years old! Just get a new electric set-up, install it, and forget the...

Re: Edelbrock 500 for 292?

I agree on that, the tags are often gone. However, with some detective work, you can narrow it down pretty close. The type and shape of the base, the shape of the accel arm, the casting #s on the air...

Re: Edelbrock 500 for 292?

You know, it would help to provide the number of the WCFB carb. At least then, a better decision could be made. Some of them are worth money, depending on the condition. WCFB carbs can be...

Re: Replacement radiator fan for 292

If everything bolts up as it should, it's the water pump. Don't use a flex fan, or one of those aftermarket "wonders". www.flex-a-lite.com (http://www.flex-a-lite.com) has an endless amount of new...

Re: Lincoln Y-Block 318 Problems

Guys, the y-block and Lincoln distributors interchange. All you need to do is switch the gears. Plus, if you do that you will have to upgrade to a later hex-drive oil pump as well.

Re: flathead to ohv engine swap

Tie rod clearance is the problem with using a rear sump engine in this chassis, which is most engines. The dropped tie rod setup is the common cure, but not the best. The drop makes them weaker. The...

Re: flathead to ohv engine swap

Yeah, those were the days. Caddy or Olds, or a couple of other weirder motors. I wish I was still there, but now 4 cylinders rule, and sometimes a 6 cylinder. Pfhoey!

Re: flathead to ohv engine swap

You are going to get a lot of "expert" help on this. Okay, first, your MANUAL trans will bolt to a y-block bell housing. However, your trans is a little wimpy so try to find a later one. The input...

52-57 Lincoln camshaft

I have for sale a NOS unground camshaft for Lincoln 317-368 engines. This is a NEW blank with no grind on it. It is a drilled center bearing, you can use it as is, or have a groove machined in it...

Re: Wire Wheel Tires with Radisl tires

I shouldn't jump in this, but, you know, there are radial tubes. You also need rim strips with tubes. The question I ask is why do you insist on radial tires in the first place? Bias tires would...

Re: 170 6 cylinder stalls on acceleration

You might also want to make sure the distributor is functioning as it should. Everyone forgets that distributors need periodic attention as well. Also keep in mind, not all "rebuilds" are done well,...

Re: Air intake sealer

A 2-component body sealer. It's pretty much permanent, and impervious to everything. 3M, Fuzor, Norton, PlioGrip, they are all pretty much the same, all cost the same, (somewhat pricey) but they work...

Re: tick tick tick tick

It's a low oil pressure issue. You MAY be able to stave it off for a bit with an aftermarket high volume oil pump, but it won't fix a worn out engine.

Re: 2012 f150 5.0 motor

The noise you hear is the valve train, resulting from low oil pressure. It would run a long time like that if necessary. There are lots of things to oil on an overhead cam system, and a convoluted...

I just can't seem to deal with all of this oil controversy. I am still trying to come to grips with all of the engines that are going to fail from using lead free gas. How many years has that been...

Re: Ford 2100 Carburetor Question:

I worked in garages since 1958 until my retirement, and still do on occasion. I was not taught, and never subscribed to the practice of "easier or cheaper is acceptable", and never will. If you want...

Re: Ford 2100 Carburetor Question:

You are trying to put a 2150 style carb on a 2100 style intake. As it is, it obviously won't work. I have been trying to get a machinist friend to make me about a dozen adapter/spacers, but he "a...
