Re: Model B engine transmission and brakes on Model A

I'm using the adapter kit from Bert's in my Phaeton, nice quality items in my opinion.

I've seen that Snyder also sells the Model B adapter kit now.

Re: Rear brake assembly diagram

John and Juggs: Thanks for the pictures, helps me a lot. No need to send the crosshaft as I already have one. I'm only missing the parts inside the drum.

Mel Gross: Good information about the...

Re: Rear brake assembly diagram

Yes they do, but would still like the names of things to make sure I don't miss some little thing. Shipping from US to Sweden is expensive.

Re: Rear brake assembly diagram

All I know is that the rear axle is from a '30 pickup, don't know more than that.
Don't have the lever in the backplate.

Pics of how it should look fully assembled would be much appreciated.

Rear brake assembly diagram

Does anyone have a list that explains what all parts on this assembly diagram are called?

My '28 phaeton is missing everything that has to do with the parking brake so some sort of list would help...

The HAMB

Does anyone here know what's going on with The HAMB?

Been down the last 3,5 days for me and it says "Will be back online late tonight".

Re: Throw out bearing

Got one more question, does the B-trans use the V8-style bearing hub or the longer Model A-style hub?

When used with B-engine and B-flywheel.

Throw out bearing

Does the Model A use the same TO bearing as Model B and early V8?

Been searching but can't really find a straight answer to my question.

Re: Timing and hand throttle levers

I'm not planning on selling the car because this is something I've been dreaming of building for a very long time, so I'll take my chances and ditch the spark rod and just keeping the hand throttle.

Re: Timing and hand throttle levers

Tried the "drill a dimple in the end-method" and that did the trick, lever is in.

Re: Timing and hand throttle levers

Yes I will be running a high compression head and centrifugal advance distributor so I will probably ditch the spark lever too.

Re: Timing and hand throttle levers

Yes it should be easy but thing is, for some reason I installed the column and steering box in the car before reinstalling the levers.

Guess I'll have to pull it out again so I can hold the column...

Re: Timing and hand throttle levers

Guess I'll just have to keep trying then.

When I removed them I thought they ran in a tube the whole length but that sure wasn't the case.

Timing and hand throttle levers

I think I messed up when I refurbished my steering column by removing the hand control levers.

Any good ideas out there on how to get them back in?

Re: '28 Phaeton is reborn

Got the steering box and column apart and refreshened.
Going with the newer 2-tooth box instead of the original one.

Re: '28 Phaeton is reborn

Sadly I don't have any photos of what you're looking for.
And the car is currently at a friends shop about 70 miles away from where I live so can't run out and take some either.

Sorry that I...

Re: '28 Phaeton is reborn

Good tip.:)

I'm lucky enough to have a experienced Model A-restorer helping me put this body together and the frame is already checked and very straight.

Re: '28 Phaeton is reborn

Re: '28 Phaeton is reborn

Got the 1932 wheels sandblasted, then a few coats of rust preventing primer and also got started on the topcoat but ran out of paint.

And tomorrow I got some more work on the body and frame...

Re: '28 Phaeton is reborn

Sadly only the Phaeton is mine though.
The guy who sold me the Phaeton is helping me put the body back together and he restores vintage cars for a living, the pictures are taken at his shop and the...
