Re: rear drum studs

You mean a drum/hub assembly, not a reproduction drum, right? And, the studs you found were the same length as original, not something a parts book jockey handed to you, right?

Re: 1932 Ford Subrail Frame Extensions

The 3-window has a different shape back there. I really doubt the rear extensions are the same.

Re: Are 1934 and 1935 auot bumpers the same?

Evidently your 34 isn’t all original.

Rumbleseat trick of regreasing a throwout bearing?

Years ago I read in Rumbleseat’s tips how he would drill a small hole in the outer radius of an old-but-good throwout bearing to add more grease. He said he would then screw a small screw into the...

Re: 42 Ford Sedan Radius Rod

The front tires look rather big. Maybe they are causing the darting. Extra scrub. Double-check your toe in too.

Oh. I guess I glossed over that part. Thanks Rich.

Re: 46-48 front drum replacement, or??

I found another possible reason for your fit issue. The top fixed anchor DOES move. You need to assemble all, and with the top anchor nut loosely snugged, step on the brake pedal to center the...

Re: Stories from the past

I'm not an ol timer (only 57), but I do remember some great deals that were had in the past. I remember an auction probably 30 or 40 years ago when Dad bought an NOS 59A block still in cosmoline. ...

Re: Polishing Aluminum Heads

If you sand all the lettering off people might mistake them for the Weiands.

Re: dual master cylinder

Nothing normal about that in an early Ford. He can get where he needs to be with simple parts and maybe some small adapters. No need for big fabrication.

Re: Closed drive shaft

Much simpler to change a few parts in the transmission with wrenches than to rework the X member and rear suspension with saws and welders.

Can I ask what transmission you want to use?

Re: dual master cylinder

Roadster Supply now has a dual master with the three bolt flange that mounts right to a stock old Ford bracket. Can’t tell you if you’ll need to modify the opening in your floor though.

Re: Are 1934 and 1935 auot bumpers the same?

The 34 will have one groove, and the 35 a double groove. But maybe you don’t care?

Re: 47 Ford - 3 on the Tree question (Clutch question)

I’ve seen two different cars leap forward because they were in gear when someone hit the ignition. I will always push the clutch when I start a car.

Re: Rebuilding an Ardun OHV 1954 - 1956

Regarding your transmission, I would let all of us know the rebuilder so we will know what kind of person he is.

As for the no number case, any three speed transmission from an F-1 pickup from...

Re: Rims

Wow, I learned something new. I was always told the straight drop 4” wheels were 40 only, the slant drop 4” wheels were made in 41, and post war they were all 4.5” wheels. I can agree that there...

Re: Torque Tube Carrier Bearing

Do you mean the midpoint bearing in the torquetube? Those weren’t used in 34 Fords, so how did you get one? A 34 should have a hollow tube driveshaft, and no bearing at the middle. I’m pretty sure...

Re: 47 V8 ignition mystery

I’m a complete hack, but I’ve heard that 87 percent of ignition problems are the carburetor.

Re: Simple wiring diagram for dummies

I did as Itslow said, and used a 1960 Ford schematic as the basis. Used whiteout over the circuits I wouldn’t need. I did add an aftermarket turn signal switch which was the most confusing part of...

Re: Setting Caster On 36 Fordor

Not camber, you mean caster. Other than raising the back ends of the split wishbone, the only other way to fix is to slit (saw blade width) the wishbone about 95% through right behind the forged...
