Re: How to connect instrument panel light?

Thank you all for the good advice and the drawing of the helpful circuit diagram!

The cable for the panel light was not connected to the ammeter (Left / Right?), but to a separate red cable from...

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Blockhead,

there is an additional reason: If synthetic oil is mixed with mineral oil, it can cause individual components to be incompatible and cause the oil to decompose.
If I understood...

Re: Foamy Transmission Oil

Blockhead,

gear oils, unlike hydraulic oils for example, do not have an extravagant anti-foam additive. (This has a technical reason).

If you have driven your car before, a foam crown is...

Re: Mounting headlight bulbs

Männers,

it took me a long time to understand the slanted light on my white house wall, regardless of the switch position I or II. One of the many previous owners confused the cables of the two...

Re: Mounting headlight bulbs

Many thanks for the hints!

Yes that's true, unfortunately. Often the quality is really bad. As an example, the light bulb shown at the end: It only had to light up for no more about 2 hours....

How to connect instrument panel light?

Hallo und guten Abend.

The one light on my (oval speedometer) panel only lights up when the light switch is set to level 1 on the right.
Presumably I have to solder it differently to the...

Mounting headlight bulbs

Guten Abend A-Spezis.

I have a question about the correct installation of the headlight bulbs. There are two different bulbs. One with two straight, horizontal filaments. The other has a straight...

Re: Oil Pan Gaskets

I have a note on this subject:

During my engine overhaul, I used the thick cork seals for the oil pan. After about 2000 miles, the engine got a lot of oil leakage from the rear bearing seal....

Re: Red Dot on New Tires

The red point on the flank indicates the lightest part of the tires. Therefore it should be mounted towards the valve.

Re: gas tank problems

Hi Steve,

I have (had) a similar problem. My solution is to put some large and roughened brass nuts in the tank. They slide over the ground during the ride and scrape away dirt.

At the same...

Re: Oil in intake ports

ou, I use a litle filter named " MANN 77-2 ". It is not too finely meshed, so that even thick-tough oil is pumped into the valve chambers during cold starts. It also has a high bypass back pressure...

Re: Oil in intake ports

Old Ugly,

I'm not asked, but maybe my hint about the oil filter will help you a little? I had the oil filter cartridge opened and squeezed out in an aerospace maintenance company using a special...

Re: Crank case breather spits up oil

This can be due to the fact that blow-by gases between the piston and cylinder are increased due to wear.

Or maybe motor oil that has become considerably too thin?

Re: Turn signal beeper or other solutions

I have the same forgetfulness problem.

I don't like an electronic beeper in this car. So I soldered a small clapper to an old relay on its anchor. This relay gets its impulse directly from the...

Re: Multiple Oil Leaks after sitting?

Hi Daryl,

on my revised engine, the crankshaft rear seal started to leak badly after 2000 miles. About 8 ounces for 100 miles.

I took thick SAE 50 oil, tried STP thickener - there was little...

Re: Marvel Mystery Oiler

The performance of the engine and its idling have remained unchanged.

The spark plug inner insulators are much cleaner. If you peer into the combustion chamber through the plug bores, you can see...

Re: Marvel Mystery Oiler

Hi Ugly,

use approximately 1:400. That's 3.5 US fl oz on 11 gallons of fuel. Much more is not necessary and also not helpful.

Re: Marvel Mystery Oiler

Re: Champion 3x electrode

Griffin,

this is an ancient spark plug like the one used in the past. Collectible. Nowadays the ground electrode sits above the middle electrode.

btw.: Modern iridium spark plugs are...
