sometimes when changing to hydraulics the backing plate will touch the drum, a little grinding required, and sometimes if the hub and/or axle are worn then hub goes on too deep. They make a shim for...

has the rear end been sitting for a long time, like the shoes are rusted to the drum? you should get them to turn before using a puller or the stuck shoes get cocked sideways and will make you angry !
