The v8 battery tray mounts on the passenger side next to the firewall. Just the opposite of the picture posted showing the 6 cylinder battery tray position.

If the bracket is missing, torque from the starter will eventually warp the oil pan attach point to the point the starter will not engage. Ask me how I know!!

I don't know about a Mercury, but the 48 Ford does not use trumpet horns. The 48 Ford horns mount behind the grill.

You will have to remove the bottom seat cushion to remove the seat back. It is bolted in place at the bottom.
