Thanks to all who helped me. Yes I was doing it wrong, but have not yet tried to do it the right way. I have the car in another garage while i work on another one.

I took the nut off and saw that the slotted bolt was under it. tried adjusting it but there is still way too much play. I guess I need to rebuild the box. Does anyone know of anyone who rebuilds them...

Have a very straight 30-31 radiator. No repairs ever or bent fins. I took it off a 31 sedan that had been restored, and sat in a garage for 20 years. No leaks but it will have to go to a radiator...

Check out ebay under Ford 1937 concept car barn find,... looks like someone with a wild imagination built this car, but the cowl and gas tank are from a 30-31 model A.

Make sure the rear main was plastigauged to a thousandth to 1 and 1/2 thousandths, and the shims pressed in as close to the crank as possible. A nd of course the tube has to be full length, and open.

It is for the later inst panel. i will have to dig it out to take pics. it is not rusty, has good paint on it. No holes in it, but will need cleaning out somewhat. it had old gas in it.
