Oh, another thing. The cleaner the materials the better, I clean my mig joints as good as I do my tig joints. Those processes are not as forgiving as smaw

If that doesn’t improve things, try looking into the ground connections, tip, liner( the slightest kink in it can alter some finicky machines) and the wire. If the wire has rust, grime, a fair amount...

If there is not sufficient gas flow, it may be one of your issues of not getting the hang of it

Personally I would, being someone who used to do X-ray quality welds as well a lots of sheet metal work the proper gas flow is essential for a quality weld.

Do you know what cfm it’s flowing at?...

Yes the shaft was pushed as far down as it would go by hand, there wasn’t much wiggle room, maybe 0-1/16”. I haven’t taken anything apart yet either. I plan on doing the swap and tuneup in the next...

That’s the only numbers that are cast into the dist. And that wasn’t a typo. From the bottom of the flange to the farthest edge of the gear is 4.908.

Sorry to jump in on your thread but it might help someone else also, but I’m wondering... I just got a motorcraft 12127 distributer to replace my 56 OEM distributer until I get the teapot referbed....

Thank you for looking into it. If it’s as simple as cutting off the bend in the pipe and sliding the tip over the smaller pipe and bolting the tip to the bumper,that would be easy. But if it’s not...

I’m trying to put the car back to oem, so I bought the tips that go through the bumper. The inlet for the tips are around 2 1/2” and the exhaust pipe is at 1 3/4” ( was bent down under the bumper...

The acceleration is not the best. 292. I would like it to be as original as possible,I still haven’t gotten the teapot rebuilt yet and may be some time till I do. So I’ll possibly be leaving this...

I'm gonna try to utilize the stock components, I'll have someone else mess with the carb since it's been over 15+ years that I messed with even a small engines carb. What they have now is a later...
