A B carb for me, but I have the Brumfield head, the big valves, and the IB-330 cam. I used to run the Zenith, which worked just fine.

Keith, from what I see rust, and people souping them up are the issues. Oh yeah, and some crazy prices... My Dad had a new 74 Super Beetle and it was a great car. Passed it down to my Aunt.

I can never find anyone near me to weld one.... As in ever.... Yes, can be, but no one will. If I get a crack the block is history.

When did this start? You have owned the car for years? What have you investigated so far? When you drive the car down the driveway, does load, or coast affect it? Only knock when idling?

Most likely dragging brake. If the points are too close it hurts performance a lot. The block that rides on the cam sometimes wears down quite a bit.

The GAV open 1/8 to 1/4 should be fine. ...

Mine has the Thunderbird decals on both valve covers. The Thunderbird Special ones go on the "real" 312s.
